If you had 1,000 dollars...........

If you had 1,000 dollars and had to give it to charity, what organization(s) would you give too and why?

I would give 500.00 to The Tony Stewart Foundation which helps help care for chronically ill children, drivers injured in motorsports activities and to support other charitable organizations in the protection of various animal species. and 500.00 to Canine Companions for Independence which provides highly-trained assistance dogs for children and adults with disabilities, free of charge.

Considering its impact on my life, I'd donate it to Alcoholics Anonymous' General Service Office. I think that's the limit that they'll accept. They cap the amount to prevent anyone/thing from exerting undue influence. I don't usually think of AA as a charity, but it is nonprofit and has helped millions stop drinking. Money donated on AA's national level is also less likely to fall prey to petty politics.

I've always said that if I won the lottery, I would take in unwanted, unloved kids. Nothing worse than in my profession seeing teenage kids who have no future... some hungry, no guidance, mistreated, ignored and no one at home who cares.

I read about this online and was really touched, what an awesome story and a great cause. This guy sounded amazing and to help burned kids and familes, wow!

If I had to pick 2 or 3, I would include Make A WIsh and something veteran related.

My husband and I have very close friends with a daughter affected by Aicardi Syndrome. If i was given 1,000 dollars to give to the charity of my choice, ASF would get every penny.

Being a wildlife nut,I would donate to National Wildlife Federation. I would hate to some species of animals go extinct like the California Condor.

Keeping it on a local level, it would go to the Friends of Camp Anokijig. It was only a couple of years ago that its existence was threatened because of an impending sale by the Racine Y. It was a group of former campers staff and other community minded people that were able to save it from the chopping block. This year it is healthy as ever and is serving kids as it has since 1928.
