Olympic Trials 100 Meter Champion: Tyson Homosexual?!?

I didn't believe this story when I first saw it and didn't post it until I have had some time to vet it, but it appears legit. One News Now, a conservative web site decided to install a filter to change the word "gay" to "homosexual" in news stories. The problem is, well, some people have the last name Gay, including a young man named Tyson who blazed a 9.68 seconds in the US Olympic Trials 100 meter dash.
According to the Washington Post story, "Fred Jackson, news director of OneNewsNow, tells the Sleuth his organization has now fixed the software glitch. "We took the filter out for that word," he said, without uttering the "G" word.".

He can't even SAY the word!

Now that they have shown their colors and admit they edited other people's stories to fit their agenda, I wonder what other edits are occurring.

Who really cares? Who reads that publication anyway?

That is hilarious. Can you imagine how that poor fellow felt when he read that one?? I would assume it was done with good intentions-- that of being more politically correct (PC), but holy cow! Too funny.

Interesting how you only found out about this because the place you got the link, the Washington Post (No agenda there..... they never slant a story to their side.....naw not them)decided to make this news. You chastised me for posting the "Marriage to Infants" story, but it's OK for this? The sword has two edges, Hale Bopp!

Stu, the Washington post is NOT where I found it origianlly...I found it originally at John Dvoark's site but wanted to verify it with a respected news organization. Read his site...his is very smart. Some days you will think his is liberal, others conservative. Definitely not a party line guy. However, he is also not a journalist and he has been taken in by a hoax from time to time, so I verify stories elsewhere before posting them (and I found this one a LOT of places). And you only attack the Washington Post here...show me the story is false. They even talked to a guy at the web site who admitted doing this.

And read my question to your story again...I didn't chastise YOU for posting the story but rather the shoddy reporting in the story itself (if you want to take that as a personal attack, I can't stop you). I asked a question which you did not attempt to answer (of course, that would take some research on your part). Possibly you got me confused with Mark...he is the one who mentioned the source of your story.

Actually you are right, and I commented in err.... sorry for that hale-bopp.

But, I never said the story is false... it is very true. But I do have issues with the journalistic intregety of the Washington Post.

That's all right, Stu. Mix ups happen.

And I don't begrudge your opinions of the media...it is always a good idea to keep in mind where info comes from (I would argue it is even more important when it is information that supports your world view since that is info we tend to believe more readily).

Although I don't contribute, I am on a mailing list for moveon.org...I should post one of their emails sometime along with my critique of it so you can see I subject left wing media to scrutiny as well (it really bugs me when they footnote their emails and their footnote is a citation to...a moveon article! Come on, external sources people...of course you agree with yourself!)

Yeah, I am a JOY to watch television with!
