Time to face the music, Packer Fans

Face it Packer Fans, Brett doesn’t want YOU anymore. You chanted, cried, and pleaded. You cursed Ted Thompson. You yelled at Mike McCarthy. You hate Aaron Rodgers. For some of you, Brett has been the only QB you have ever known for the Packers. And now Brett says he wants to play, just not for YOU, the Green and Gold faithful.

Brett has a huge heart, and a caring soul, but also an ego the size of his estate in Hattiesburg. He waffles better than Barack Obama. And right now, Brett doesn’t know whether to scratch his watch or wind his butt.

Brett sure knows how to cash in, however. I got this email today from Brett’s official website:

Brett Favre had an unforgettable career with the Green Bay Packers for the last 16 years! We will remember him as a Green Bay Packer and what he has done with the Legendary and Historic franchise of the Green Bay Packers. He has set many major NFL Records including the most career passing yards, most career touchdowns, and most career wins by any quarterback in the history of the NFL. Don't miss out on this chance to own a piece of NFL history. Brett Favre will no longer be playing for the Green Bay Packers and this will be your last chance to get your Brett Favre autographed Green Bay Packers merchandise.
AS BRETT FAVRE MOVES FORWARD WITH HIS CAREER, WE WISH HIM THE BEST, AND HOPE TO ENJOY MANY MORE FOOTBALL GAMES WATCHING HIM PLAY THE GAME WE ALL LOVE SO VERY MUCH!

So Brett says to all of you “Hey, I don’t want to play for you, but here, buy some of my stuff, and by the way, im going to play for someone else.” Don’t get me wrong… if you cut me I bleed Green and Gold, and loved wearing my Favre jersey on Sundays for the last 16 years. But the Franchise got through Lombardi leaving, Bart Starr retiring, and Reggie White playing for someone else. Yes, to me Brett will always be a Packer, but will I watch him play for someone else…….No. You see, the team is not Brett Favre. The team is more than one person. The team is the larger than life institution in our state. A place where the Packers as a team are often referred to as “we” by the Packer Nation. Brett thinks the Packers should be referred to as “I”. I’m tired of he said/he said BS. I’m tired of Chris Mortensen and ESPN. I’m tired of hearing Brett’s Mom, Brother, friend, agent, and lawnmower man on the TV and Radio.

I truly think the Packers are trying to what they think is best for the Team. And I think Brett is trying to do what is best for Brett.

It is time for all of Brett’s “I want to play, I don’t want to play, I’m retired, I’m not retired, I want to play for GB, I don’t want to play for GB” stuff to end. Don’t make the mistake other famous players made by ending their career on another team, losing, getting injured, or just being foolish. Ride off into the sunset, Brett. Come back for the retirement ceremony, and we’ll see you in Canton in five years. Play for someone else, and you will be leaving a bad taste in some fans mouths that will hurt for a while, but we will forgive you……… eventually.

There is only one way to describe this situation...FUBAR! Ted Thompson has a personality that is a irritating as government issued toilet paper and Farve doesn't know whether to shit or get off the pot. I think Farve wanted to come back to the Pack, and I think McCarthy would have taken him back. But Farve was looking for something more than being a Packer. I think he wanted an apology from Thompson which ain't going to, and will never happen. The poor SOB stuck in the middle of all this is McCarthy.

I have openly been a big supporter of Brett. Yes, there may have been a little hero worshiping happening.

I am sure much of what logjam says is correct. But, the team does come first. Aaron Rogers has really shown some class though this.

I am finding it harder and harder to justify what is happening in the media. Sometimes you have to be smart enough to know what you can and can not negotiate. There is a stain on Green Bay. No matter what happens this season, it will all fall back to this ugly public dispute.

Anyone remember Joe Theisman? He kept wanting to play too.

I think he got a job with Kansas City. Because he was somwhat slower, he couldn't get out of the way of the Giant's defensive backs. They wound up breaking his leg.

Is that what Farve wants? Get some debiltating injury?

Go home or take a nice coaching job somewhere.

KK, you’re right. It’s a lose lose situation for Green Bay.

He’s proving to all football fans he’s nothing but a baby.

Logjam-I think you're right and it's sad. As much as I would love to see Farve come back to play,I think it would be better for him if he rode off into the sunset. He would get a lot more respect from his fans.

OK, I used to be big Brett and Packers fan, now I'm just a Packers fan. I am as tired of hearing Brett's name as I am of hearing Britney Spears and
Paris Hilton, ...

geez people, we need better reporting than to make us want to never turn the TV on again.
It would be different had he not wavered so much for now many years?? then did a soap opera caliber sob drama about retiring, then the team takes to moving on, new guys get excited about stepping up and having the chance to shine then here comes Brett, let me steal the spotlight and be a selfish pig......

I HAD alot of respect for him when he shaved his head in support of his wife when she went thru chemo, but after this, I have none left for him, sad, just sad........

Farve is gone. The best ending of this would have been when he made his retirement announcement, he stuck with it. He would have gone out with class, retiring his number would have been grand and emotional, and every town in Wisconsin would have had a Farve Avenue. You can't deny he gave us a lot to cheer about. For me, it will be strange not to see number 4 come out of the tunnel, but on the other hand, I'm beginning to feel "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out."

Well, as great as he is, I am a long time Bucaneers fan and I am hoping we DON'T get him. Let him play for the jets. His style is just so different from Tampa's that it would probably make a lot of people miserable.

He's leaving ~~~ on a JET plane....

Ok.. so let's change the words to that song.

Yep, DA. I saw a photo of the #4 jersey in Jets colors this morning... already for sale. I don't care what side of the dispute you were on. I think everyone has to agree, it all seems so wrong.

It is amazing how someone can shot themselves in the foot.

Yes, he had a chance to be elevated to god-like status, but noooo. Instead, people in this state are beginning to hate him.

I have this vision of a mob pulling down a Brett Farve statue ala Sadaam Hussein.

I don't hate him or feel any dissappointment. I just think he's an idiot.
