Scary recalls...now our drugs!

This sort of scares me...all these drugs??? And in some cases the tablets contain too much medication???

ETHEX Corporation Issues Nationwide Voluntary Recall of Products (January 28)
Wed, 28 Jan 2009 13:39:00 -0600
ETHEX Corporation, a subsidiary of KV Pharmaceutical is issuing, as previously disclosed by KV Pharmaceutical Company on January 26, 2009, a nationwide voluntary recall of the products identified below (all lots within their expiration dates) at a wholesale or a retail level as a precautionary measure because they may have been manufactured under conditions that did not sufficiently comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). Some of these products have had specific lots recalled earlier due to defects found, including oversized tablets delivering higher than labeled doses. These additional products are being removed to assure that no other defective products remain in the marketplace.

Fixed.

Mom was talking today about the peanut butter recall. Last year it was tomatoes and pet food and what else? The drive to skimp on everything, to squeeze every last penny of profit out, will destroy us. We're not doing things "smarter" - we're doing things less and less responsibly.

There is nothing about this in any of the locals. Not even on Racine News.

BTW, wasn't that the name of the porno place on Main street?

OMG I have a family member taking one of these. Thanks for the heads up BEEJAY.

Yeah, AA, some of us were talking about that before. I used to live upstairs from what is now Salute's, and I knew a guy who worked at the porno shop.

You're also right about the scant news coverage of the drug recall, but it's real: http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2009/01/28/america/KV-Pharmaceutical-Recall.php. A Google News search turned up less than a dozen hits. Maybe the media figures we've heard enough bad news with the peanut butter thing.

My mom is on so many drugs, some of these are ones she takes, and you know they are buying wholesale. Now how on earth can I even presume to get the nursing home to check vendor and stock numbers? I'm on constant vigil and I can't even get them to do the basic necessity items that are listed in her care plan!

Oh, kk, I know...when my Mom was in for her first broken hip, I took in some CoEnzymeQ10...and she never got it...we could bring it, but they had to dispense it. Never happened...Wanted to beat the guy up...

Anyway, when I was looking at these, I recognized some heart meds, some 'make me feel better meds,' and various others...

I have subscribed to the site...so I'll keep you up to date.

kk, nursing homes can be good and then, they can be the worst thing in the world. My best to you. Aw, you know that already.

ok, they make a big deal about peanut butter, but no mention of drugs? Don't people who are taking medicines already have a compromised immune system?

"keep taking them" WTF?? Are they stronger, weaker, or just the wrong size?

Well the media and the government know where there bread is buttered.....One small peanut butter plant can be taken out, but start taking the big drug companies down and there'll be no more big kick backs or advertizing coming their way......It's all about the money. Who cares if a few people die. This makes me sick.....I can stop buying peanutbutter any time and it's no biggy but I can't stop my kids meds!
