Dolphins at Dana Point

I just got back from California yesterday. I had an AWESOME time. Thanks to my sweetheart, Layla! She showed me around Los Angeles, Hollywood, and went up and down the California coast.

One of my highlights was a trip to Dana Point to go whale and dolphin watching. I tell you, it was an experience! The ocean was choppy that day and we got wet. I tried to take a few pictures, but ended up hanging on to the rails for most of the journey. Layla and her sister, both having done this a few times, took to the seas like warriors! We didn't see any whales, but we saw dolphins and sea lions!

Here is a video from our trip, taken by Layla.

There is no way you would get me out in that. No way. I can watch dolphin videos on YouTube.

Dog Addicts and Orbs, there were a few folks on board that were seasick, I felt bad for them! Normally its as smooth as glass out there, I was bummed it was so choppy for Drew's first time out!

Glad you had a nice time, drew. Was that a big fish, a shark or a dolphin in the water?

I took the ferry from San Francisco to Alcatraz on a very choppy day. On the way back, smaller boats stayed in our wake because they couldn't make any headway. It was fun, but the bumps were pretty severe and after awhile, we were glad to be back on shore safely.

Down in Pismo Beach, off a long pier, we saw some dolphins. I thought they were sharks at first because of the dorsal fin.

I would sometimes go out in the morning on St. Croix when the dolphins came close to shore and swim with them...yep, I have done that in the wild, not one of those dolphin petting zoos. Saw them all the time in Florida as well.
