More Free Advertising for the Beautiful People on Racine Post

http://news.racinepost.com/2009/07/ivanhoe-tweaks-menu-plans-for-new-beers.html

Sorry, that's not a real link above because I don't want our site reported for "link spamming" again. You'll have to copy and paste it.

What is that, like the fifth article on the Ivanhoe? If it doesn't happen in city hall, downtown, or on the lakefront, it doesn't really happen in Racine, right?

What about all the other taverns in town that are also adjusting to the economy; you know, the bars that 99% of Racine's drinkers patronize?

Party on - but only in downtown, and only with the "right" people!

Instead of "let them eat cake," they've decided to serve up scones?

I don't much have feelings about the Ivanhoe one way or the other. I've never been there. Can't afford it.

Snoots and conspicuous consumption have always been with us. I don't much care about them either. It is the insistence that they are "good" or "positive" for all of Racine that galls me.

Party all you want, but don't insult me with bullshit that your parties benefit me or my hood. They benefit your wallets, period.

I have been there twice, bad experience each time. The bartenders suck. It is like if you don’t know them, don’t be in a hurry for a drink.

The bar owners (not all) in Racine must think they all are running some high class joints. Many places you go, $3.00 to $3.25 for a bottle of Miller High Life, go to Kenosha, same type of bar, just as fun and only $2.50 for a bottle. To me this is wrong.

Orbs, You must have missed our last bar story on Joey's on Lathrop. We have another planned for next week on McAuliffe's big band that plays every other Tuesday night. I wouldn't call any of this "free advertising." We're just trying to write about interesting bars and restaurants in the city. If you have suggestions of other places to check out, we'd be happy to hear them.

I'm the wrong demographic. I am wondering how I will pay my electric bill and if the landlord will allow me to work off part of next month's rent.

Sorry, no money for partying.

I am just a bit muddled at those who spend $300. on their new coach handbags (purses) when there are those who have lost their jobs and don't have enough resources to feed their children. I don't think I'm a socialist, but things are truly whack...

Oh my goodness; where to start on the bar owner losers in this town............hummmmmm lets see......most of them are Nothing to begin with and some of them had the bars passed down by their dads, have always been spoiled asses and know NOTHING about serving real people. Saw the owner of Ivanhoe’s at the country club looking down upon the very people that keep him afloat......"what a looser asshole he is!” No tips from him"! Just remember your clientele is the public, NOT THE POSERS AND THE WANNA BE'S.

Dustin,

If they moved Ivanhoes’ to Mead Street, you still think it would be an interesting place to go?
