I am sitting here in Florida thinking that it has been close to two years since my husband died. I remember meeting most of you guys on line during that awful time just prior to his death. You were there for me immediately following his death...my very first outing was with you guys at that little joint on Washington Avenue. So supportive you were and protective of me. True friendships were formed...at least on this end!
In any event, I owe you all a big thanks for your support through those awful days immediately following Doug's death.
SER, you were right, I was myself and that's all that was necessary. Orbs, KK and DA, you were there with all the wisdom I needed...Lizard Mom, your humor carried me through. Toad, Outdoorsman, Drew, Hale, and if there is anyone else I may have erroneously omitted, my apologies, I do appreciate you and how caring you were then and now! The love that flowed through the internet for me was beyond my expectations...if hugs could have flown though that fiber-optic stuff, they would have.
Two years later, I have come a long way. I now have a new man in my life and am extremely happy. Never thought this would happen...who would have thunk. How lucky could I be??? (Thanks to DA and Abby, I made that fateful call! You coached me through that nervous Nelly stuff .... first time in my life a man told me to call HIM) And, yes, you will meet Dan, the man! Abby, he can even handle you!!!! Trust me.
Today, I have added Abby and DA's hubby...(so, how YOU doin??), Logjam, and AA, to the this group of friends. How lucky could one woman be??? (Abby, that is not a question for you!!!)

Beejay, I wasn't at the original meeting at the restaurant (Ground Round, I think), but I remember reading and talking about your husband's death online at the Journal Times blogs. And then I had the pleasure and honor of meeting you at the first JTI get-together.
I'm so happy for you that you've grown, and now you have someone new in your life. Good for you!
Does this mean that you're not going to be a party girl anymore?

We do love you beejay and are so glad that we were able to help you though something that tough! I marveled at your ability to handle it all.
That has been the most amazing thing to me about the JTI. Started off as total strangers. I remember sitting outside that "little joint" on Washington Ave, having to talk myself into going inside.
I kept thinking I always tell my students NEVER to meet anyone online. I walked in and in a few moments found 25 new best friends.
At a time in our lives and society where meeting new people doesn't often happen (in fact, as people age, friends more often drop off)I have so many new people who make me laugh, teach me new things and help me to carry the world.
So thank you ALL for being there!!!

I am so happy for you. I thought we might have a chance to meet in November but our "maybe trip" has been put on hold until January.
O'Mary, I look forward to meeting you whenever you can make it....I think of you each time I visit Doug's grave.
