Don't Tase Me THERE, Bro!

Today the St. Petersburg Times reports that Taser has issued new guidelines to police departments to avoid chest shots. This warning comes to help police prevent unnecessary deaths when using tasers.

The picture that appeared in the paper (which, unfortunately, is not in the online version of the story) is enough to make any man wince. They are supposed to aim LOWER if you know what I mean. Getting tased in the family jewels almost makes me think risking a little death is not such a disaster.

You can read Tasers Training Bulletin 15.0 for more information.

I realize tasing someone is better than shooting to kill, but its use might be too quick a choice, knowing the repercussions are less.

Messing with someones electrical system can be deadly if that person already has medical issues.

I always worry about the G.I.Joe cop out there who misunderstands someones intent. Remember that video of the cop who recently tased the grandma? She was wrong, but the response was way over the top.

When I see innocent victims of police actions, I get ticked off. When I see innocent victims of criminal actions, I get ticked off. When I see criminal victims of police actions, I smile.

We will forever pursue the balance between aggressive enforcement of our laws and aggressive enforcement of our civil liberties.

Oh, and now I wear lead underwear to protect me from tasing, gamma rays, and impure thoughts.
