Daylilies, March 1, 2010, Racine, Wisconsin

Yes!

Green. Growing from the earth. In Racine. Even as you read this. Huzzah!

For me, this is better than the first robin of spring (which I usually see in July). Ma Nature is gonna come back for another try. She takes a licking, but she keeps on ticking.

Oh, and this is what I miss about WI, the tulips, daffodils, crocus, jump up johnnies, etc...and with me the asparagus sprouting through the soil.....aaaaah....life returns to WI!

No sh*t, drew! I never heard of them being spotted that early. I remember my mom once having a spot of grass growing on the south side of her house in March.

Yeah, Beejay, I love it, too. It really hasn't been that hard of a winter, and I know it's not over yet, but it's wonderful to watch things start to come back to life. The daylilies are coming up against a building's foundation, so they have the advantage of some warmth and shelter.

There is hope! I heard my first boom car on Saturday: the urban equivalent of the spring robin?

I'm first jealous that you can actually see the ground.. We are still covered in MANY inches of snow.. and then WOW so beautiful to see new life growing.. thanks for the picture to restore my faith that spring really is coming.. and it will eventually possibly come here to Sweden

No robins down here yet but I did notice the tree in the front yard is starting to get buds on it.
Got the garden going over the weekend. Strawberries, new potatoes, asparagus. We've actually had a winter this year which is fine but I am so looking forward to the 60's this weekend.
