Sassa, I assume so. I was talking with mom and told her that. (She said that she hopes the other inmates "give him hell" in prison. lol.) He'll probably be assigned to a sex offenders facility.

Simanek must be a sicko as well. To admit that he was going to give Gary PROBATION until the Boston Store debacle came to light is just plain disturbing as hell to me.

Really??? 25 years maximum sentence and he was about to walk with PROBATION??? Really??

Am I understanding this correctly??

I figured it would be probation. I guess I feel justified and betrayed at the same time. As Anonymous said, if Becker hadn't bought the bras and panties, he'd be sleeping in his apartment (or wherever) tonight. There's a disconnect between the people and the judges.

I thought I heard he was heading to the Dodge Correctional Facility? Did I just wish that to be true? Isn't that a regular hoosegow for your run of the mill, average criminal?

Yeah, that's where he's headed, but I heard that you get evaluated there and then sent to wherever they think is appropriate. I'm pretty sure the state has medium and/or minimum security facilities for SOs. I really don't know.

I'm beginning to think that Simanek set up the groundwork for a successful appeal of the sentencing. He said he was going to sentence Becker to probation, but then gave him 3 years because Becker bought the undies. There's nothing illegal in buying the bras and panties, and Becker wasn't prohibited from doing so by provisions of his bond.

Bad judgment? You bet. 3 years of prison worth? I dunno...

I was following the online chats and what I found stunning was the admission by Simanek that he usually sentences similar cases to probation, but many (or most) of those probations are rescinded because of additional offenses...YET HE WAS ONLY GOING TO GIVE BECKER PROBATION?

Orbs, the Boston Store thing is much more significant than just bad judgment. While Caledonia was investigating their sexual offender ordinances, I attended many of the legislative meetings and with all the "experts" that the committee brought forward during that process, "recidivism" among sexual predators and the "triggers" that lead to repeat offenses were repeatedly stessed.

Becker's actions at Boston Store (not just buying the lingerie, but lingering in the department) would seem to indicate his rehab was not terribly successful since he couldn't avoid one of his "triggers" and I'd think were a huge red flag that he's likely to become a repeat offender. Part of the reason for incarceration of sexual offenders is to get them off the street and continue treatment to prevent any future offenses.

He's not going to prison because of just bad judgment, he's going to prison because he's still out of control, IMHO.

I believe both Caledonia Unplugged and Orbs are correct in some of their discourse.

An appeal will be easier to get since the real crimes of:
1. using a computer to solicit sex with children, and...
2. having child porn pix on his computer...
were plead out. How did that happen?

I believe the wording WAS intentional by the judge, that he would have walked without this recent finding of him purchasing the lingerie-- something not an illegal act, but yes, indicative of his lack of control over this behavior that got him into this situation. Seems that for whatever reason, he did not want to send Becker to jail.

Geee, maybe it is a crime or mistake to be able to afford lingerie from Boston Store? You think a clerk at Wal-mart or K-mart would have recognized him, realized the implication or gravity of this, or taken the initiative to report this?

I thought with him off the street, serving time for this hideous parade of filth, that I would feel better. Nothing removes the feeling of dirt. I worry a lot about his children. I feel for his brother. The whole city mourns.
