Four for Fridays

Hello everyone! Sorry for no 4fF last week, I was Up North with my folks. Anyways, snow is coming this way, therefore this week's questions are about snow.

1) Are you prepared for the winter?

2) What do you like the most about snow?

3) What do you dislike the most about the snow?

4) Have you participated in any winter activities like skiing, ice skating, sledding, etc.? If so, what?

Enjoy your weekend!

1. Practically - yes; mentally - no

2. A fresh snowfall is very pretty

3. Dangerous driving, the frigid cold, snow removal and digging out the driveway after the plow buried me.

4. A friend and I are thinking about sledding on New Year's Eve this year. I used to ice skate every night at Humble Park when I was younger. I was on the ski team in High School.

1. Yep...not much to do down here...only have to put the solar blanket on my pool.
2. It staying up north
3. Nothing any longer
4. I used to skate, sled, etc...haven't in years. A walk in a gentle snow was nice...I could take about 15 minutes of it, then I'm done.

Hope you had a great holiday 'up north!'

1) Are you prepared for the winter?
It's been full out winter for about 3 weeks now so I am prepared now, but it did catch me by surprise.

2) What do you like the most about snow?
The way it looks outside my window while I am cozy warm inside and have no reason to go out in it.

3) What do you dislike the most about the snow?
Trying to push the buggy through the snow, trying to stay on my two feet when it turns into ice, the cold, the mess, shoveling, dealing with late buses and trains because of the snow.. I'm sure there is more.

4) Have you participated in any winter activities like skiing, ice skating, sledding, etc.? If so, what? Well I'm forced outside because of my girls, but we just go build snowmen and go sledding and the like.. I don't like ice skating and skiing, so I will put that off for as long as I can.

1. Yes! Snow blower works, car is ready, bring it in!

2. The pristine beautify early in the morning after a big snow, and watching it fall in slow big flakes.

3. The way idiots drive in it.

4. Sledding with my daughter on the Sturty BMX hill!

1. No.
2. I like watching other people get it. Like in Buffalo today - I'm sure glad its them.
3. I hate driving in it. Down here we don't have the equipment you guys have so getting around is difficult.
4. Used to go sledding and skating but those days are gone.

1. oh yes.
2. the quietness.
3. when it gets dirty & gray.
4. building snowball lanterns - like mini igloos a couple feet high using snowballs instead of blocks. you put a candle inside after it's built & they're just lovely...

sylvia, that's quite common to do here.. you can also make ice lanterns fill a big bucket with water and then put a smaller one inside that's empty let it freeze overnight and take out the buckets (using hot water in the buckets) and put a candle in it.. very pretty as well..

1) I am never prepared for winter.

2) Snow can be pretty to look at.

3) I dislike everything else about snow. Oh wait - snow is good for the slow release of moisture into the landscape, so that's a plus.

4) I grew up near North Beach, so sledding on the lake bank was natural. I also used to ice skate on the Zoo pond back in the day. I've never skied.

1) Yeah, somewhat...Still rather have it summer.

2) See my blog pictures below.

3) Everything else...

4) I used to go sledding down the hill at the reservoir across Durand Ave when I was a kid. On top of that, my folks have some killer snowmobiles that I've gone cruising in.

1) Are you prepared for the winter?
Can you ever be totally prepared?

2) What do you like the most about snow?
When it melts and it's all gone

3) What do you dislike the most about the snow?
When it gets dirty, it's nasty looking.

4) Have you participated in any winter activities like skiing, ice skating, sledding, etc.? If so, what?
Use to have 4 snowmobiles, got tired of fixing them and gave they all away!

Yes, thanks for the lantern ideas. I've seen this in the past, but never tried it. It is on my to-do list for this season.

Ick, ick, ick. Looking out the window, it could happen today!
