Well, what are your thoughts?

"Curtis Johnson, former Diversey chairman, charged with sexual assault": http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/article_3f104f50-5647-11e0-a75a-001cc4c03286.html

At first, the Journal Times allowed comments on their online story above. They even posted a separate story asking for people's one word response to the news of Johnson being charged. That is gone and the comments on the original story have disappeared. New comments are not allowed. Some people felt that was unjust and said so in the Journal Times' OPEN FORUM: http://www.journaltimes.com/news/article_d0d709ac-53b7-11e0-ac65-001cc4c002e0.html?mode=comments

Some commenters in that forum say that the comments on the Johnson story were turned off to protect the victim. Then why hasn't the Journal Times turned off comments when other notable pedos have been arrested, charged, and/or sentenced? Check out the comments on this story, and the comments on the related stories linked to it in the article: http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/article_fa2a6452-547a-11e0-bd6c-001cc4c002e0.html Where was the supposed concern for the victim then? And for the victims of all the other pedo stories that they've posted?  Remeber the cop and the high school girl last year?  You could say anything you wanted to about that on The Journal Times.com.  Commenters crucified Gary Becker there.  I know; I helped pound in some nails.

C'mon, we all know what is going on here.  It brings to mind one of my favorite quotes, from George Orwell's Animal Farm: "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

I was wondering..Where did he meet this girl? I know nothing about his life, family (wives/children). I wonder how much this victim was offered to let the charge go away? Did his family do anything to help him with this 'addiction'? Did he work 9 to 5? Is he a jet setter? Playboy?

When someone who appears to have everything: the best education, money, opportunity, power, and makes a horrible choice like this, it is hard to wrap your mind around it.
I feel it is devastating to hear.

On your other point, about closing down the comments on the Journal Times, I have very conflicting feelings as of late. I rarely go there anymore. It has become "scoop's" and a few other radicals forum. One might as well peek into windows, dig through the trash, or read a Harlequin romance. It is nothing valuable, simply filth. I question the open policy for most official newspapers. The comments are all troll driven and vile, and don't do anything positive for our community.

I do think the public needs a venue to discuss matters that are of concern. I am thankful every day to have the JTI as a forum for reasonable comment. You are a group of people who put reason and thought into your comments.

My thoughts are with the Johnson family and with the family of the young lady involved.

Looks like this is his step daughter. Pardon my language, but hell has a special place for these purvey bastards. Sick sonofabitch!

Becker had similar problems, as do the numbers of teacher nude picture takers, porn lovers , and child molesters. If I were to look for a common denominator, I'd have to include the S.C. Johnson folks, who meddle in everything.

My sister texted me last night and said to go look out on the RJT site. Wow! She too said it was his step-daughter but I didn't see that anywhere.
Seriously, here is a guy who has more money than he can ever use and could have gone to a clinic anywhere in the world to get help, but he didn't.
That tells me he didn't want help and that sickens me.

The Johnson family has done so much good for Racine and here it is tainted by one of them who has a serious, serious problem.

If it is his step-daughter, I feel so badly for her (or for whomever it is regardless of any family relationship to him). I can't even imagine how a young girl would deal with this (or a young boy for that matter).

Sad...just sad for the child, for the family and for the community.

KK, very well said. We all have problems, some just more serious than others. so do we need more "Keyboard Rambos"?

As for Johnson himself, I don't give a damn. Pedos have permeated high places in Racine for a long time. I strongly suspect a network, but it's hard to get justice when the judges themselves may be pedos.

As for the Journal Times turning off comments, they're moral cowards, the typical "leadership" of Racine. The Johnson family called and they caved. Clazmer was crucified online and no one said snit. Individual comments can be deleted, like they were on the Clazmer stories, but the wealth of the Johnsons outweighs our constitutional rights to freedom of speech and freedom of the press. It is disgusting and sick and sad, but, again, I've known about this shit for years.

Orb's: It's a VERY sad situation. I In NO way condone these types of actions by ANYBODY, and only can imagine the hurt the rest of his family Is feeling. Actually I was glad the JT took down the HORRIBLE photo of him. Many families have that Odd Duck that for some reason fell down, and never got back up. I just feel terrible for the families involved.

I HOPE we don't see too many self serving comments on this issue HERE. If some people don't like the JTs decision not to allow comments TELL THEM.

KK: GREAT analysis.
