The Africa they never show you.

This is quite an enlightenment. Where are the little kids living in the dirt houses with the flies on their faces? Are those just staged so we contribute to the wealth of their country? Maybe we should show them how some of our own poverty strickened people live and reverse the situation. Do you think we would get any help from Africa? Hummm. Food for thought

Surprising modern and upscale isn't it... so how do you like the real Africa now? And......why aren't their rich helping their poor, instead of us !

So what percentage of the population do you suppose actually lives like this? It's pretty easy to look up income figures for random countries in Africa. For South Africa, probably the wealthiest country, the GDP per capita is about $10,700 (2010 figure cited here) compared to about $47,000 for the U.S. So even the wealthiest country is pretty poor compared to the U.S. Many countries in Africa are under $1000 in per capita gdp and I am supposed to believe that those pics represent the real Africa? Stats show otherwise.

Now you might be showing the homes of corrupt leaders, but that's not what I got from the text you wrote to accompany your post.

As in many third world nations there are two classes, the very rich and the very poor. I studied African culture and there are still tribes of hunters and gatherers there, it is amazing they are living the same as they did thousands of years ago, and BTW they are happy people, go figure.

You can do that with anyplace. Just show where the rich live and all looks good.

So, should we begin photographing the ghettos of America and begin begging other countries for help?

As orbs said in a post above... we are headed for big trouble. We are becoming a nation divided.

God, I hope we leave those hunters and gatherers alone, but I bet we don't...
