it pays to know the good folks at Insinkerator. My kitchen has a restaurant grade disposal. Beautiful stainless steel job with real power.

Go, In-Sink-Erator! Go, any local company!

Sometimes they get a brand name to call everything like it as such. Kleenex was one...for tissue, Xerox was one for coping and Insinkerator was for garbage disposals.

Yes, you're correct, Sassa. Interestingly, In-Sink-Erator makes a lot of the other brand garbage disposals that you see. They make them to the other manufacturers' specifications for them.

I worked at ISE for a week decades ago, in the punch press dept. ISE machines the teeth for their own disposal units, but a lot of the other brands use teeth stamped from sheet metal. That's a big difference in quality right there.

When I lived in Florida, I had to replace the garbage disposal in my condo and bought an Insinkerator. Had no idea they were based in Racine or that I would live there years later. I remember a nice long run was the first time I noticed the factory and it made me a little bit happy that I bought one made in Racine.

I'm kinda familiar with them also; I'm retired from there after working for them for 20 years

SER, can you get people a discount on garbage disposals?

I was at a technology fair at Festival Hall many years ago. The In-Sink-Erator men behind the booth had 2" blocks of wood. They made me feed one down the drain. I was very hesitant. I couldn't believe when it chewed it up. They explained how grinding bones actually sharpens the blades. Amazing product. You really miss them, and can't wait to replace them, when they punk out.

Yes but it is cheaper to buy one at Menards or Home Depot. They complained to ISE because employees where allowed (I believe) 3 per year. Now they raised the employee price and when the units are on sale it is a better price then employee price.

They have somewhere around 1,000 to 1,200 employees and that's a lot of lost sales for a local store(s) if everyone was to get 3 a year.

ISE does donate a lot of them to special functions like fund raisers for someone who has cancer and stuff like that.
