We usually wind up paying for any heat we get. It is miserably hot, then it gets miserably COLD... and in the end, the climate overall has little change.

Maybe the sheriff needs to mix up the open blog days or post time so huck and froglover can't anticipate the #1 spot and GO TO BED instead?

Looks like our Ironman triathlon went without a hitch yesterday. Plenty of water, ice and misting tents. Glad to hear those maniacs survived the heat. They interviewed several of them and all one guy could say was... "WOW" as he crossed the line.

Hello from Florida, everyone. All is good in my world. EXCEPT for Bank of America. I've had it with them...All because they didn't have me put the little word 'trustee' behind my signature on a check I deposited. Good grief. Time to consolidate accounts to another financial institution. I think Busey Bank gets my business in place of them. They know how to dial a phone!

OnOrbs birthday blog he gave us an update on his mom. Good news Orbs. But the last sentence had me in tears I was laughing so hard. Thanks for the laugh Orbs.

Also, being electronically challenged, I am unable to do this, but if you get time there is a video on you tube called Saving Valentina. Its about saving a whale. It may take a few minutes to watch but worth every minute. Heartwarming.

And lastly, welcome to the world of heat. At least down here, everything is air conditioned. I truly feel bad for you guys up there that don't have it.

Oh sure..... I've seen the Monday/Wednesday/Friday spots open many, many times but never posted at the crack of start. Just not interested. I do it once as a lark and new rules get discussed. Story of my life. (more whining, moaning and teeth knashing goes here)

:-)

And KKD dear, a paltry 8:03 is nothing to the early birds.

I want to properly applaud my friends John and Paula who ran/biked/swam in yesterday's event. John smoked until four years ago, then started a regimen of fitness. Paula put up with his smoking, but had her own weight problem all her life. She started her fitness quest a year before him. Today, they both look BUFF! I've never seen her so slim and svelte. She was always a bit well rounded. John's one of those naturally skinny folks we all love to hate for his genes.

At the ripe old age of fifty-mumble, mumble, John finished at 7:06 and Paula 8:00. Both cut a solid forty minutes off their last year's time. Both look like kids again. Simply amazing and a job well done. CONGRATS!

I have done some sprint triathalons, but never a half-Ironman (the distance done yesterday). I have done all three components individually, but (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run) but not on the same day! I would have to work on the swim the most...would need a better racing bike too.

We all wanted warmer weather but Holy Bajesus enough is enough.

I wish it would rain for about 3 days straight, a nice slow easy one.
