Evidence of Autumn

Seems like Indian Summer has left us after a good week of excellent weather. The cold winds and rain finally came...stripping the colorful leaves and leaving the trees naked for all to see. Time to start planning for the winter ahead and get ready for hibernation. Here are some pictures I took from around town I took before today's rain...

Beautiful. Thank you, drew. There's a maple on Erie St., near Melvin, that turns the most gorgeous red. I saw a guy raking up those leaves the other day. I wonder if he thinks they're "gorgeous"?

I'm loving the fall colors, it'll be too soon before the trees are once again bare, sure wish those colors could hang around a while longer

Very beautiful pictures Drew, thanks for sharing.. Leaving when I did really was making me miss fall in Racine.. Would love to take the girls around on Halloween too.. There is no trick or treating here.. kinda sad..

Why Not, I just had 2 exchange students here from Germany and they were saying the same thing about Halloween, they got a kick out of the way some Americans decorate their homes for it.

Nice pics Drew. Fall is very colorful but what I find depressing about it is the crap that follows.

Logjam I totally agree with you.

I love the colors of the trees but I hate the weather that comes after that.

Orbs I have seen that tree and I think that is really beautiful.

I'm so glad that someone actually feels the same way that I do about fall.. people around here just love fall and look at me so strangely when I say I find it depressing because of the weather that it brings.. finally some sane??? people?

Sane is a four letter word... ;>

I've always loved fall. That goes back to childhood. My dislike of winter was more recently acquired and seems to grow with each year. That apparently is part of the aging process, and the "sane" ones are the people like Beejay who winter or move to the south.

I literally practice denial and just block out thoughts of winter while I try to enjoy fall. Last week here, with the sun and mild temperatures, was spectacular. With the sun low in the sky, it beautifully backlit the colorful fall foliage.

I've always loved the warmth of the summer. Just being outside and feeling the sun's rays is more than enough delight for me. Early fall is an extension of that...combined with the smell of the leaves and colorful foliage is a huge plus for me.

Winter on the hand...is just a season of cold, despair, depression, otherwise plainly sucks.

BTW folks, thank you for the kind comments. It was thrill just to take these pictures.
