Jed, they probably went back to the stone tablet.

Sitting here with a pecan sandie, a cup of coffee and the internet. Life is good. Don't make me go back to work, please!

here in Sweden frogs say kvack, kvack...

well it looks like today is my Friday as well.. Maia is covered in little red bumps.. the nurse wasnt certain but thinks it's chicken pox.. they are not sure because it started off on her face instead of her chest, armpits and groin area like it usually does, plus they do not seem to itch her and no fever.. but none the less she is to stay home until she can meet the pediatric nurse on Monday, by that time these bumps should be more clear of what they are.. luckily I dont have to work until next Wednesday evening..

Holy Swedish meatballs, you have to wait until Monday to take her in Why Not? That sucks too. I am scarred for life on my arm from that vaccination shot they used to give, I think it was for that, I'm not sure now, but it was for something irregular I had going on. Anyone surprised? lol

What the heck is a pecan sandie KK?

Pecan Sandie = a spectacular shortbread cookie with crushed pecan chips... heaven.

Jed, are you referring to the smallpox vaccine? That one left a scar on all of us, over a certain age. They no longer give that to kids, because they "wiped the disease out." But now, with terrorism potential, they are reconsidering the vaccine. I'm sure much of it has to do with cost and actual implementation.

Speaking of vaccines...do you see the constant commercials for the shingles vaccine? It is almost a scare tactic by the drug companies. "It is already in your body." That may be true, but the delivery is shameful.

And, (the coffee must be working) the news has been talking about Hepatitis C. All of us, again -of a certain age, are now to be tested, per the CDC. Seems they underestimated how many of us are asymptomatic carriers. Lovely. I'm sure my doc will love to poke me when I see him next week. He must have a huge supply of needles he wants to use up, I swear.

Geez KK, you'd be a cheap date...pecan sandies, V & L's and go outside to watch the ISS thingy fly by. Nice.
That's funny, last time I saw my mommy, she gave me this medical card that was like 50 years old with all of my childhood vaccinations I had on it. I will actually have to read it now.
Speaking of vaccinations, (Diet Mt. Dew)I was thinking(lol)why do they sterilize the needles used for lethal injections?

KK - last November I was helping get the Christmas decorations down when I knew I had hurt myself. To make a long story short, I broke my pelvis in a car accident years ago and I felt the pain from "doing too much" from that as well as my sciatic nerve. I was terribly uncomfortable with pains in my leg but Aleve took care of it. A few days later while taking my bath I noticed bumps on my leg and there was a clump of them behind my knee. Turns out I had the shingles. Lucky for me, it was mild and went away in a few weeks. It does burn like a dickens.
As for the Hepatitis C, I know first hand about that disease and pray no one gets it. I've been tested and am clear but truthfully I wouldn't wish that disease on anyone. The meds are worse than the virus.
Jed - KK is right, the scar is from Smallpox.

Well, this is a delightful thread!
Let's go back to talking about cookies!

I'm not diminishing either medical issue. I've heard how painful shingles is, and I know the dangers of Hep C.

What bothers me is how the vaccine/pharmaceutical companies play and hype to the fears of people.

Ask your doctor about blah, blah, blah. If you have a good doctor, they should be talking to you about these things, recommending which medications, tests and procedures are appropriate for your particular situation, ie: health and age... not the companies who have a financial gain in the process.

kkdither said...

Hey, wait... How did I let that slip? Did jed just call me cheap? ;>

KK - I wholeheartedly agree with you. I've read blogs where people want to know what was done to us that we need to get this test. Makes you wonder what was.
I also get tired of the "do this, no don't do that" every other week. Especially when it involves women.
Of course I could but I won't go into the horrid list of side effects some meds have and our Doctors want us to take.
