Here are some of the results of my continuing investigation into property values in the City of Racine.

My curiosity piqued – I investigated further how badly City Administrator Tom Friedel has mismanaged the City of Racine. I started to research the property tax payment records of some of these houses taxpayers are paying to have demolished.

1310 11th. St. has not paid taxes or utilities (sewer and water) since the year 2000! On the County website I can research the unpaid land taxes only. On the City website I can research the land taxes, utilities (sewer and water) and penalities and interest only back to year 2006.

The raw numbers: 1310 11th. St. owes $13014.61 land taxes since 2000.

1310 11th. St. owes $11347.69 land/utility since 2006

1310 11th. St. owes $16,056.19 land/utility/penalities/ since 2006.

1606 Villa St. owes $20,170.67 land/utility since 2006

1606 Villa St. owes $31,344.05 land/utility/penalities since 2006

How many residents of Racine aren’t paying their sewer/water – and for how many years? How badly is Tom and John mismanaging and bungling City Finances? Where is the Common Council? They are all too busy arguing about roof colors for the (unaffordable) Festival Hall, giving away $$$ for domestic partner healthcare benefits, breaking union contracts and embroiling the residents in paying for costly litigation (the residents will lose) and paying for John Dickerts personal legal bills. LOOTING A CITY OF ILL REPUTE!

Further reports are coming soon and will be posted at: Racine In Ruins

Have a great day all...I'm running late today.....seems like I've been going in circles all day.

Hope the weekend is delightful up there. We are getting hot and rainy or so they say. Hot is here, no rainy yet!

It better rain. I didn't water my tomatoes yet. Radar shows a big clump of showers headed right toward us. If our luck holds, it will break up before it gets here.

Orbs, it's either thundering loudly outside or my tummy's growling here, can't figure out which :)

Some rain. Tomorrow I'll have to water the tomatoes anyway.

Just a few sprinkles on my end of town. Had to go out and water afterward. :(

Racine Property Sales per the Local Shopper:

"Recent Property Sales as reported by The Journal Times
Foreclosures continue in Racine at a rapid pace, and property values continue to plummet. There is a huge disconnect between "assessed value" and actual sales price -- often in the Tens of Thousands of Dollars. Today's Deal and Steal of the Week goes to the new owner of 2042 Kinzie Ave, who paid $55,000 for a property assessed by the City of Racine assessor at $128,000 -- for a difference of Negative $73,000. *WOW* The City Assessor clearly has properties grossly overvalued and the City is gouging residents on taxes charged. City of Racine residents need to get their properties realistically assessed by an independent assessor and then have the City Assessor change the record to reflect today's market value. You could save hundreds, even thousands of $$$. Don't let the City continue to gouge you . Remember that with a 6.43% increase in mil rate from RUSD , a $500,000 levy from Gateway, and the City Employees suing over broken contracts, taxes are set for another huge increase in 2013 -- which means property values will plummet even more."
