"iDoctor - Could a smartphone be the future of medicine?"

Technology grows in quantum leaps. I can't keep up.

Might be information overload? Id hate to be tied to a device like that. In some instances, I can see it to be a great benefit, in others, maybe too invasive.

My mom had a pacemaker/defibrillator. Once a month, they would call her home phone. She would hold a magnet over her heart and it would transmit information via the phone line. It was amazing the different data that was provided to them without her having to leave her home.

Orbs, my brother-in-law could do that, that would reset and adjust it over the phone....crazy shit.

It'll never happen. Under ObamaCare the IRS will be in charge of your health care. And they will never allow anything that will help. It's not in their nature.

There was a veteran in my old neighborhood named Big Jim. In later years, he had one of those things implanted, too. He had to call Woods Hospital and hold the receiver over his heart.

Health care is monstrously huge and complicated now. I remember doctor appointments of my childhood and early adult life at the offices of independent MDs. Now it's like you're a slab of meat on an assembly (or disassembly) line. Specialization is supposed to improve efficiency, but it has the opposite effect.

I don't look forward to the mounting infirmities of growing older. In fact, they scare the crap out of me.
