The Journal Times is not reporting a number of crimes in Racine.  Crime is just our perception according to city officials.

The mantra does seem to be, "it is all about perception." I've heard that mentioned even in the schools. The problem is that local funding has been cut at the state level. Services and interventions which used to help deter crime and work with our youth have been cut to the deepest levels ever.

Unemployment is at a very high level and it is becoming socially acceptable to not follow a responsible path to a self supporting career.

So... let's instead pretend that all good. Crime is minimal, we have it under control. Skew the data to show success. After all, we don't want to scare away those who still have tax generating jobs.

I agree.

Last I heard, the reward for getting these guys is $7,000.

If they aren't caught soon, someone is going to be shot: maybe the bartender, a customer, or the thieves themselves (sweet irony).

The Journal Times plays Dickert's tune.

Mark Lewis can't make his buddy John Dickert look bad. What will they write when the feds start taking people away in handcuffs?

They'll say that our city officials, under aliases, are inspecting the inner workings of the Wisconsin Penal System.
