We had a client come in last week who left her dog in the car. "I thought the windows being opened would be okay". I had her bring the dog in and told her at no time should a dog be left in the car when it's 96 outside. I told her (gently of course) that when she got back in her car to sit for a minute and then she would realize how hot it is.

As a dog owner I fully understand what the heat can do. At this time of year if the dog comes with me it's to the ATM at the bank and then home. Gets him out, he is safe and everything is good.

I have been known to walk all over a parking lot, looking for the BARK. I have yet had to intervene, but It's been close a couple of times. It's a COMMON practice at Walmart. Lucky for the owner of the car, they returned, before I got IN THE MOOD.

Thank you, Carol Lynn. No creature should be left alone in a locked car on a broiling day.

I don't understand why some people want a pet, but then don't take care of it.

I went searching one day at the library, late afternoon, around six. Found the pup in an open truck cab, under a tree, with water. Windows wide open. It was a pittie. It became obvious that the owner has run into the library, but the dog was just lonesome. It was not hot at all. Tail was wagging. I left.

Another time, some idiot left his small dog locked in his car in the handicapped spot right in front of the door. Hotter than pistols. We paged him in the library. "Dog likes being with me." Idiot. We told him to leave the dog at home. Nut case.

I will never understand why people think their dog has to go everywhere with them. My dog doesn't like to go to lowe's or Home Depot. She likes her cushy place on my pillow at home.

Thank You Everyone for Sharing Your Stories. Not All People Think This is Important. I'm Glad You Fell The Same As I do. Yes They Do Need To Leave Pets At Home. I Was At A Big Baseball Park Spotted A Car With A Dog In A Crate On A Very Hot Day. Windows Hardly Opened. Towel's In The Window. Was Going To Call Police - But Flagged Down Parks Attendants Riding Around In A Golf Cart. They Jumped Right On The Case. Went To Check Car Was Gone. Needless To Say The Car Had Been Parked There For Along Time. I told Some People. I was The Only One That Reported It. Thanks Again. We Are The Animals Voice.
