"What an amazing storm we had last night. The lightning was spectacular over the Lake and the endless thunder roared the entire time we were capturing it. We have never experienced a Thunderstorm with so much lightning and thunder. This time lapse video features 600 still images of this incredible storm over Lake Michigan. Shane and I hope you enjoy!

That was a very unusual storm that blew through. The sheer number of lightning bolts at one time in the sky was astounding. I stepped out for a short time to watch before the storm was overhead. The thunder was continuous. It sounded like the proverbial "train" that people claim a tornado sounds like. I head that the police scanner claimed there was a tornado sighting near Lathrop Ave, but it must not have done any damage, or it was not verified? Haven't heard any more about it. My lights stayed on, the air conditioning was not interrupted, but I also heard there were many who weren't so fortunate. We received some hail, but it wasn't damaging or as big as some that had been reported.

My neighbor teen was out taking video. Eventually, the storm was getting pretty near. I had to resist not telling her she should get in, and take cover. Lightning is nothing to fool with, but then again, neither are teens. ;>

Great video. Haven't seen anything like that down here in a while. And for that, I am grateful.

Thanks for Posting.

I only remember seeing ONE storm like that living In Racine. We were visiting friends on Newman Road, and a storm was coming across a field across the road. You could tell It was bad, because It was so low. We had decided to leave before It hit us, but we were a bit late. All the way home, to near the lake on the North side, all It did was lightening and thunder. I never before In my life saw so much continues lightening. It really scared the crap out of me. I was certain we finally were going to be hit by the big one, but It continued for about an hour, and was over. This was all In the Dark. Probably about 1989 maybe. Have not seen anything like It again.

Everyone who witnessed/lived through the storm comments on the lightning. It was a free light show. Like kk, I had power concerns simply because the battery for my uninterruptible power supply (UPS) died a few months ago. When I lived in the oldest part of town, I quickly learned that they have the oldest utilities, too. The power cut out on average twice a summer. If it goes while your computer is writing to the hard drive, it can damage the computer. For me, to run from just a power strip is going commando.

Thank you JT IRREGULARS for sharing our video!! Thank you everyone for the amazing comments you left! We appreciate it so much! The entire time my husband Shane and I were capturing this storm we were amazed at the intensity of it. Both of us were born and raised in Racine, we have been photographing storms for almost two years and we have never experienced a storm quite like this one. We are glad we were able to capture this one. Thank you again for all of the great comments. ~Gabriella
