"Remanufactured" Printer Ink Cartridges

I recently ran out of black ink on my printer.  I went to Walmart.com and their cheapest price on a Hewlett Packard cartridge was $47.  My God.  Anyway, I kept scrolling down Walmart.com and came across these "remanufactured" cartridges. http://www.walmart.com/ip/2-Pack-New-Compatible-with-HP-C6615-HP-15-Ink-Cartridge-forHP-Deskjet-810C-1180C-BK/49927812  They wanted $15.30 for TWO black cartridges.  Got the black cartridges in today.  So, it works like a charm.  I also ordered a color cartridge from another retailer.  $15 when HP wants $46.  I haven't received that, yet.

Ink is incredibly expensive. We've been out of ink forever, always something we forget to buy when we're out and about and such a dull thing to spend money on. Although it's really handy to have. We'll have to break down and buy it someday.

Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new printer. Thanks for the article. Will keep an eye out for that when we are out. Just replaced them a month ago.

OKIE, exactly. AT $50 a cartridge and two cartridges, I've been advised by techs to buy a new printer. Ink cartridges for older printers are more expensive because there's less demand for them. However, I can live with $15.30 for two black ink cartridges. That's very reasonable. We'll see what the color cartridge is like, but I rarely print in color.

This printer is almost 20 years old. It's survived being soaked with pop 3 times. The printer is to the left of the monitor and my pop (or coffee) is to the left of the keyboard. 'Nuff said. That's why there are always signs at computer labs that say no food or drink in the lab.

What I do miss is my flatbed scanner which was apparently damaged in my move to this apartment, but I can't tell how. It just won't work.

A tech from TWC once said, "You don't see that anymore."

"What?" I asked.

"A separate scanner and printer," he said. "Nowadays, everyone has all-in-ones that print, scan, and fax."
