I had to sneak my rock 'n roll 45s onto the record player during the day when he was at work.

I was a kid when Elvis hit the big time and old enough to appreciate the Beatles when they appeared on the scene. I love how music has been the soundtrack to my generation's life but hate how ad agenices have exploited that. (Note to Dennis Hopper: please off yourself before you sell out to another investment firm and try to convince us that is why we started a "revolution.")

I occasionally find myself humming a tune from the 50's, usually one that I did not own on record but probably heard a lot on the radio, like Gene Chandler-Duke Of Earl.OrbsCorbshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08195806840368262235noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-514457884876261588.post-38200292294457678562009-05-22T02:21:07.642-05:002009-05-22T02:21:07.642-05:00You can't go wrong with Elvis. I was watching "Rattle and Hum" tonight and one of my favorite moments is when the talk to Larry about Elvis and he gets quite emotional sharing about his visit to Graceland.

Anyhow...back to your topic. Its different for me. I grew up with a dad who loved music and heard all genres around the house (except country! opposite of your parents).

I was four years old when the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan and watched it with my dad. Music from the 60's - early 80's is still my favorite but there are so many great new bands out there too.

BDS comes to mind as one...BUT where did they get their influence? Yep, back to the original greats....Clapton, Hendrix, etc.

Great post, Drew :)Bar L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11100008292699584336noreply@blogger.com
