Recall Cory Mason

Racine has had enough. Excessive taxes and fees, punitive enforcement, rampant spending, unresponsive and secretive government, whitelisting residents to restrict access, bloated city government and ineffective development projects with wasted spending.

Covid-19 cases are rising. States are opening up anyway.

After several weeks at a plateau, Covid-19 cases in the United States are rising again, the clearest warning sign yet that the country could face another "avoidable" surge, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday.

© Provided by NBC News

The uptick comes at a critical time, when Americans are exhausted and desperate for a return to normalcy, but also perhaps better equipped than at any other point in the pandemic to turn the tide, thanks to increased vaccine supply.

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said at a media briefing that the most recent seven-day average of Covid-19 cases was about 57,000 cases per day, an increase of 7 percent from the previous week.

"We know from prior surges that if we don't control things now, there is a real potential for the epidemic curve to soar again," she said, adding that she remains "deeply concerned" about the trends.

The immediate challenge for Walensky and other public health officials is to convince Americans weary of pandemic protocols to hold on just a little longer with masks and physical distancing as vaccinations are administered at an average clip of 2.5 million per day. Still, just 14 percent of the U.S. population is fully vaccinated, according to the CDC.

But are Americans, or their elected leaders, listening?

AP’s Orwellian push to change the news

From New York Post:

AP tells its reporters not to call the migrant surge at the US-Mexico border a "crisis."EPA

President Biden’s Homeland Security secretary says migrant apprehensions are hitting a 20-year high, and record numbers of unaccompanied minors are already in federal custody — but the Associated Press is ordering its reporters to ignore reality and not call it a “crisis.”

In an internal memo from “the Standards Center,” the AP told staff, “The current event in the news — a sharp increase in the arrival of unaccompanied minors — is a problem for border officials, a political challenge for Biden and a dire situation for many migrants who make the journey, but it does not fit the classic dictionary definition of a crisis.”

A “crisis,” it explained, might be a “decisive or crucial time” or “a time of, or a state of affairs involving, great danger or trouble, often one which threatens to result in unpleasant consequences.”

Wisconsin bars and restaurants can sell cocktails to go under bill signed into law by Gov. Tony Evers

From JSOnline:

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

MADISON - A year after the coronavirus pandemic forced customers to avoid drinking and eating in public, bars and restaurants may now start selling wine and cocktails to go.

Gov. Tony Evers on Friday signed a bill that would allow taverns and restaurants to sell wine and mixed drinks in sealed containers for curbside or in-store pickup. The law takes effect Sunday.

The new law gives the hospitality industry a new way to boost sales while the pandemic persists but also comes months after revenue losses were at their worst, just as warmer weather is pushing patios to reopen and as more of Wisconsin becomes vaccinated.

"It's taken awhile to get them to go but we're happy — it's not going to magically save a lot of businesses over the course of the last year but it's an important tool," Scott Stenger, a lobbyist for the Tavern League of Wisconsin, said. "It's the first time that we've gotten good news."

Racine man facing 200 sexual assault charges hearing pushed back, additional charges expected

From TMJ4:

A Racine man is facing hundreds of sexual assault charges and is having his preliminary hearing pushed back due to additional charges.

Shane Stanger, 46, appeared in court Thursday, March 25 in a preliminary hearing facing 200 counts of sexual assault in Racine.

Stanger’s attorney, Alexander Kostal, declined to comment.

Stanger, 46, walked into the courtroom handcuffed with a mask on, in an orange Racine County Jail jumpsuit.

Prosecutors say video obtained by law enforcement shows him sexually assaulting two women and a girl as young as 10 years old.

One of the victims found videos on a laptop showing herself being sexually assaulted by Stanger, according to a criminal complaint released Wednesday.

Stanger is the ex-boyfriend of the victim, according to prosecutors, and they had two children together, though they have not had romantic relations since 2015.

EXPLAINER: North Korean missiles getting more agile, evasive

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — In resuming its ballistic testing activity after a yearlong pause, North Korea has demonstrated a potentially nuclear-capable weapon that shows how it continues to expand its military capabilities amid a stalemate in diplomacy with the United States.

The two short-range missiles the North fired into the sea this week were its first meaningful provocation since the inauguration of President Joe Biden, who on Thursday delivered a restrained response to the launches, saying “there will be responses if they choose to escalate.”

Since a provocative run in North Korean nuclear and missile tests in 2016 and 2017, much of the U.S. focus has been on North Korea’s intercontinental ballistic missiles that pose a direct threat to the American homeland.

But experts say North Korea’s growing arsenal of shorter-range solid-fuel weapons are more destabilizing for U.S. allies South Korea and Japan. And the latest launches underscored the North’s efforts to improve its capacities for delivering nuclear strikes and overwhelming missile defense systems.

BELLMAWR, N.J. (WNCN) — In light of popular doughnut shop Krispy Kreme offering free doughnuts to those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine, one gym owner is doing the opposite.

Ian Smith, who says he is the co-owner of The Atilis Gym, located in Bellmawr, New Jersey had a different proposal — free memberships for everybody who has not been vaccinated.

Smith had this to say on Twitter:

Twitter users didn’t waste time commenting on Smith’s proposal with mixed reactions.

Some slammed Smith’s decision.

“Yeah thanks for supporting Bellmawar’s most famous killer,” one Twitter user replied.

Others were happy to see such a proposal and shot back at everyone who disagreed.

“Why all the hatred??? Everyone is welcome to have their own opinions,” another user said.

Smith says he believes in health “the real way”, which as he puts it includes exercise, a good diet, and an environment to destress.

Racine County man may face almost 200 criminal charges, including 87 counts of sexual assault

From The Journal Times.com:

ROCHESTER — A Rochester man may face almost 200 charges related to and including sexual assault and possession of child pornography.

Shane M. Stanger, 46, was located and taken into custody after the Racine County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of a sexual assault in Rochester on Feb. 28.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, the female who called in the complaint located numerous videos on a laptop computer of herself being sexually assaulted by a male acquaintance, later identified as Stanger.

The female reported making duplicate copies of the videos she discovered and turned them over to deputies.

She said she had no recollection of the sexual assaults, and she said she believed she was drugged.

The Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Bureau conducted an examination of Stanger’s laptop computer and cellphone.

They discovered “numerous acts of sexual assaults to the original victim, an assault to an additional adult victim, an assault to a juvenile victim, and several videos of victims showering and/or using the restroom without their permission,” the release said.

The following charges were recommended to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office:

  • Second Degree Sexual Assault of an Unconscious Victim (87 Counts)
  • Third Degree Sexual Assault (4 counts)
  • Possession of Child Pornography (2 counts)
  • Representations Depicting Nudity, Person Under 18 (3 Counts)
  • Representations Depicting Nudity (50 Counts)
  • Invasion of Privacy (49 Counts)

This is an ongoing investigation as additional charges from out-of-state are forthcoming, the release said.

Wisconsin Senate approves allowing bars and restaurants to sell drinks to go

From JSOnline:
Patrick Marley
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

MADISON – The Wisconsin Senate agreed Tuesday to allow people to grab alcoholic drinks to go at bars, restaurants, grocers and liquor stores.

The surprise move drew broad bipartisan support. Senators sent a bill affecting bars and restaurants to Gov. Tony Evers and a broader measure to the Assembly, where its fate is unclear.

Assembly Bill 32 would allow bars and restaurants to sell wine and mixed drinks in sealed containers for curbside or in-store pickup.

That would give them a new way to boost sales during the coronavirus pandemic when they have seen their sales plummet.

Under current law, bars and restaurants can sell drinks to go only if they are in their original packaging. They can sell a bottle of wine to go, but not a glass of wine to go.

The Assembly passed the bill on a voice vote last week and the Senate approved it 28-2 on Tuesday. Senate Democratic Leader Janet Bewley of Mason and Republican Sen. Julian Bradley of Franklin cast the votes against it.

Top Wisconsin Republican says arresting perpetrators is likely the only thing that can be done in response to mass shootings

From JSOnline:
Patrick Marley
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

MADISON - The leader of the Wisconsin Assembly said Tuesday there is little the state can do about mass shootings other than arrest the perpetrators after they commit their crimes.

Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos of Rochester made his comment after a string of shootings around the country, including ones that killed two in Oconomowoceight in Atlanta and 10 in Boulder, Colorado.

Democrats disputed his contention, saying legislation to expand background checks would help stem gun violence. They called for action after the killings.

But Vos said he did not see a reason to require background checks for all gun purchases because checks are already required for most of them.

"I have not seen exactly how in the circumstances that they described that the guns were obtained, but if they were done lawfully, it seems like we already have a process and if someone chooses to break the law, there is very little that we can do besides arrest them after they’ve committed the act," he said at a news conference.

US has evidence of UFOs moving at non-human speeds and breaking sound barriers without a sonic boom

The US “has evidence of UFOs moving at non-human speeds and breaking sound barriers without a sonic boom,” revealed Trump’s former National Intelligence Director, Fox News reported.

US has secret evidence of UFOs breaking sound barrier

The revelations sparked excitement about an upcoming report detailing what the U.S. government has observed. John Ratcliffe told on Friday that the Pentagon is planning to publish a report declassifying UFO sightings on June 1.

Ratcliffe, Donald Trump’s Director of National Intelligence said that most of the incidents still have no simple explanation. Also, there are a lot more sightings than have been made public.

“And when we talk about sightings, we are talking about objects that have seen by Navy or Air Force pilots. Or have been picked up by satellite imagery that frankly engage in actions that are difficult to explain.”

“Movements that are hard to replicate that we don’t have the technology for. Or traveling at speeds that exceed the sound barrier without a sonic boom,” Ratcliffe told Fox News.

A new Pentagon report will also explain any threats due to the aerial event or if foreign adversaries are supposedly controlling them.

Weather may cause visual disturbances

Ratcliffe said that weather may create visual disturbances. He further added that sometimes they wonder if or not their adversaries have technologies slightly down the road than they assumed. But at these occurences they don’t have a better explanation for things that have been seen.

Ratcliff’s views emerged months after the Pentagon declassified three popular UFO videos. It admitted that the video was recorded by US Navy pilots.

According to Ratcliffe, the reported sightings extend beyond “just a pilot or just a satellite, or some intelligence collection.”

In December, Donald Trump had signed the $2.3 trillion COVID-19 relief and government funding bill. With that a 180-day countdown for the Pentagon and spy agencies began to reveal their findings about UFOs.

Ratcliffe said he had expected to share the information before the administration left the White House in January. But they were unable to write it down into an unclassifed version.

Boulder Shooter Identified As 21-Year-Old Ahmad Al-Issa, Charged With 10 Counts Of Murder

From ZeroHedge:

WEDNESDAY, MAR 24, 2021 - 04:44 AM

Update (1132ET): The suspect in the Monday afternoon Boulder, Colorado supermarket shooting which left 10 dead is 21-year-old Ahmad Al-Issa from Arvada, Colorado.

So expect this not to be classified as terrorism, and the motive to remain unclear for some time.

Al-Issa has been charged with 10 counts of murder after he opened fire at the King Soopers grocery store in Boulder using a semi-automatic rifle. The victims' ages range from 20 to 65.

He was shot in the leg and was in the hospital as of Tuesday morning.

It's unclear how former President Trump motivated Al-Issa to carry out this attack, but we're sure Rachel Maddow and CNN will fill in the blanks.

And now, a thread of people who got the shooting wrong while playing identity olympics:

And last but lot least... Vice President Kamala Harris' niece who immediately assumed the suspected mass shooter in Colorado was a White man in part because he was taken into custody alive:

"The Atlanta shooting was not even a week ago. Violent white men are the greatest terrorist threat to our country,"

Which she quickly deleted after discovering the man was 'not white' after all, leading to accusations she engaged in racial profiling.

Oops.

Update (2359ET): The death toll is now up to 10 people, including a police officer.

"I thought I was going to die," said meat department employee Alex Arellano, 35, who heard a series of gunshots and witnessed people running toward a nearby exit.

The deceased officer has been identified as 51-year-old Eric Talley, who joined the department in 2010 according to the New York Times.

Dean Schiller, who posted a live video from the scene shortly after the shooting began, said he heard about a dozen shots and saw three people who appeared to be wounded — two in the parking lot and one inside the supermarket.

As officers secured the building, more than a dozen people were led out of the supermarket, a King Soopers in a residential area a couple of miles south of the campus of the University of Colorado. The grocery store usually draws a mix of families and college students. -NYT

In what is being billed as the second major mass shooting in the US since the country's COVID-plagued economy started to reopen in earnest, six people - including a police officer - were killed inside a Colorado grocery store on Monday afternoon.

Speaking during a press briefing held just minutes after SWAT police confronted another armed suspect inside an apartment near a high school in Boulder, police confirmed details from the earlier shooting, including the fact that a cop had been killed by the shooter, who was taken into custody.

Video of SWAT officers confronting the second suspect, reportedly named Thomas Hanger, is already circulating on social media. People nearby were warned to shelter in place.

Monday's attack took place outside a King Soopers grocery store in Boulder. In addition to the shooter, a second person of interest, who was injured, was taken into custody at the scene, according to Boulder Police Department Commander Kerry Yamaguchi.

Officers A law enforcement source told ABC News officers were responding to a report of someone being shot in the parking lot, and when they arrived at the scene, the suspect opened fire on them using a long gun. Back up in the form of other agencies, including the SWAT team, quickly arrived. ABC News also confirmed that the death toll is at six. Officers are waiting until family members have been notified to release a final death toll, along with names for the victims.

"Without that quick response, we don't know if there would have been more loss of life," Yamaguchi said.

The commander and Boulder District Attorney Michael Michael Dougherty said at the news conference that they will be releasing more information on the deceased victims, including the exact number of victims soon, as they are still notifying families.

Video from the attack, including one shot showing the suspected shooter being taken into custody, have been circulating online.

Watch the full evening press briefing from the Boulder police below:

The shooting notably follows roughly one week after another shooting in Georgia directed at three massage parlors and spa, where 8 victims, including Asian women who worked at the spas, were killed. That attack prompted the media to declare that mass killings, which had disappeared from the headlines during the pandemic, have returned in the US.
