"A&W plans big expansion in Milwaukee"

http://www.jsonline.com/business/41906757.html

They're heading our way. Yum! Was the one near Park High once an A&W? I know there once was one on Hwy 32 south of KR. I think the nearest one now is on the Frontage Road off of County Hwy K.

It was J&W because they refused to sell the "Mamma and Pappa" brand burgers. They wanted to stay the way they were, so they had to change the name. NOBODY had a BETTER double cheesburger. I remember going there to buy a gallon of Root Beer on a hot summer night. It couldn't be beat. It's now EMPTY. I had many a lunch when going to Park.

  3. Same kind of story up in Plymouth Toad. On the way to Camp Anokijig we'd stop at the A&W in Plymouth. But for reasons unknown to me, the dropped A&W and are now known as Chester's. But us "old timers" still refer to it as A&W.

  5. Cool! I haven't had a root beer at drive-in in years! The last was like maybe seven years ago in Shawano. Had anybody tried Sprechter's? A little expensive, but excellent on a hot summer day!

Sprechers is from Madison, where everything is expensive. Remember .15 cent beers? HUH.

  7. Oh my gosh, A&W Cheeseburger, fries, Root Beer. Yum!
Everyone pooling their money so we could have lunch there.
The only A&W I know of any more is the one on I-94. I honestly don't know if we have them down here anymore or not. Not by me anyway.
    Now I'm hungry.
