Open Blog

We're going to try posting an open blog on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to see if irregular minds have things to share that may not require a whole blog. Anything you have to say, you can say it here. If an Open Blog gets hot, we'll bump it to the top. Start yakking...

  1. Toad, it sounds as if most websites can't handle the number of jerks who want to publish trash just to hear themselves speak. We had the same problem with censorship at our "mother" site.

On to my comment of the day....
It is assumed I should maintain a professional demeanor, while working in the most unprofessional environment with the most unprofessional superiors. I'm burned out. Bring on the summer...

  2. Hello everyone.

Toad, pettiness is everywhere. I love the so-called journalists at the Journal Times who censor, censor, censor, and then they whine about the fourth estate and freedom of speech when they don't get what they want. All high and mighty and full of principles when it affects them, but they deny their readers the same rights that they demand for themselves. Typical hypocrisy from small minds and black hearts. And the Racine Post goes into all sorts of contortions to pick and choose what they will report on and how they will do it. Oink, oink, oinkers everywhere.

kk, your bosses may soon get new digs. Ain't it great to be king? The kids go to school in 19th century dumps but the swine administrators live high on the hog.

  3. Yep, I read the article. Creative financing at its best. What a bunch of lying bullshitters. Wrong day for me to hear this news.. (in light of the screwing I found out they did to our students without second thought or conscience.) I don't know how much more I can take. If the public only knew half of what I've learned over the years!

  4. By the way, please pardon my porcine pejoratives. I'm on some sort of 'pig' roll. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le2Nbvo4sUM I mean to offend no one other than my intended targets.

kk, when you retire, write a tell-all book.

  5. I'm a lot like Elaine from Seinfeld, "Schnapps me!"

  6. I was online checking the news and I read where dead dolphins are now washing ashore, just like the turtles. The toll from this oil spill is already too high and this is just the beginning.
I'm not sure if this is correct or not but even if BP is guilty of causing this, the payoff cap is $75 million.

  7. I cannot, will not think about that spill. It is simply too much for my simple, overheated brain to digest. I see the headlines, but I don't read the stories. I especially cannot handle pictures/stories about oil-slicked, dying wildlife.

I lost all respect for BP last year when the Lockerbie bomber was released to Libya in exchange for BP getting oil lease rights there. It's just sickening.

  8. The Lockerbie bomber supposedly had less than six months to live...anyone hear if that came to pass?

As I mentioned before, a college classmate of mine was on the Lockerbie flight. Not a close friend, but it was a small college where we all knew each other, so it was someone I knew and had dinner with occasionally.

  9. Right now, I am in Florida...saw Hair at the American Stage. It's their production in the park. Good show, nice night.

Now the real reason for my spring trip here...I worked a couple of connections and secured a VIP seat for the shuttle launch on Friday, you know, up by the big clock you see on television. Picture will be posted!

  11. I'm back home after a wonderful week (although exhausting) in WI...got to see my JTI's peeps...Biggie D (SER, I am still out on that name!!!) enjoyed himself, found out why I love you guys dearly and learned all about WI fish fries, and kringle! BTW, he did survive meeting my family!!! LOL.

Left the frigid temps of WI yesterday...46 degrees, cloudy and generally yucky...FL 88 degrees with some gentle breezes.

Okay, the oil spill...I am very, very concerned about what it will do to our beaches, turtles, sea-life, etc....we are closely watching this disaster unfold here in Florida. Not a good scenario for us at all.

    Hale, check in with me.....

  12. A former oilman was on the Today Show today. He was talking about a massive oil leak in the middle east 20 years ago and what they did was get a bunch of super tankers out and all of them skimmed the oil off the water and it worked. I say let's try it.
As for the lockerbie bomber, it must be a miracle, choke.
Hale, I'm very jealous but happy you get to see the launch.

Beejay - glad you had a great trip and are safe at home.

  13. Not to be flippant over a terrible disaster, but I can't shake the joke I once heard a comedian say... The answer to oil spills is pancakes. With their amazing ability to absorb, just fry up a bunch, throw them in the water and let them soak up the spill.

  14. Thanks for the reply's to my comment. It turns out the board made MOST of the proposed cut's and are waiting until the regular meeting on Monday to make the rest. One of my suggestions was to make all OUT OF TOWN employees of the State run Sand Ridge Treatment Center (The so call patients ar all Sex Offenders) a special tax on their income. I felt this would be fair since the GREAT majority of them are from out of town, and they provide NO benefit to our community. I guess they didn't like that one, since they deleted It.

As for the oil spill. I like the hair idea. They should be able to collect an endless supply of hair for this project. I know I need mine cut.

Hale: You are REALLY a lucky man. I would love to see the shuttle launch. Here is a funny. My nephews and his wife live in South Daytona, and hear the sonic booms when the shuttle returns. The funny part is, she call them "atomic booms" doesn't know any better.
