Geez, I didn't even read the description on YouTube:
"'A Girl Like You' is a 1994 single by Scottish singer-songwriter Edwyn Collins from his album Gorgeous George. The song is an Iggy Pop tribute[1] chronicling a tale of the singer's experiences of meeting an extraordinary girl."
Omg, I didn't know that Iggy Pop and the Stooges covered this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I53o0OWpZ8 It sounds almost the same as Edwyn Collins.
ReplyDeleteThat was fabulous! What a voice. I have not heard of him before. Kind of reminds me of Bowie or Byrne.
ReplyDeleteI may have heard the Iggy Pop version. They do sound similar, but the Collins version has a bit more edge and cleanness to it.

So Iggy did it first and Collins sounds like him. However, I agree with you, kk, and prefer Collins' version. And I'm an Iggy Pop fan.
Also, I didn't notice the Bowie similarity until you mentioned it. And I'm a big Bowie fan.
