Wisconsin second worst in construction job losses

Wisconsin lost 10,200 construction jobs in the recent 12 months, second only to Alaska in the percentage of job losses in the sector, a new report shows  Source: JSOnline Wisconsin second worst

With all these people out of work, why can't they be hired to finish Douglas Ave and the "Great Mess" downtown in front of City Hall?  You play hell trying to drive around the police station with all the oneway crap going on down there.

  1. Makes you wonder doesn't it? Whenever you travel there are cones stacked up blocking you from using lanes but yet no one is working on them. Drives me nuts.

    I will say this, we just had a jobs report last week and Oklahoma's unemployment rate is 4%.
    It's kind of nice to drive by places and see help wanted signs.

  2. Because "we're broke." Wait a minute, we have 250,000 jobs coming soon. Everything will be fine if we stay the course. {huge sarcasm}

    Look at all the money that is being pumped into campaigns and the protection of both party's candidates. Think of the hungry children, think of all the cuts proposed... and it is shameful.

  3. City Hall has bright shiny new $300K bathrooms. What is everyone complaining about?

  4. Don't forget about the construction on 3mile road from Main st. to just past Lasalle St. also yesterday I went down Ohio St and they are working on that again. Then the highway is still under construction and starting to come towards Ryan Rd. now.

  6. Well I will say this, Racine is consistent. Every time I came home during the summer to visit mom I had to figure out how to get around. There were times I thought I'd get lost but if there is one thing to remember about Racine, if you can find the lake you can find your way home. God I miss that lake.

  7. Does Racine have a 5 or 10 year plan on where they want to be or does it change like a fart in the wind?

  8. Gateway raises property taxes, RUSD raises property taxes 6.42%, City of Racine WILL raise fees, John spends like a drunken Sailor!

    It's Corporate government gone mad, taxing people out of house and home and creating homeless families and hungry children.

    Although most ghetto homes have cable, cell phones, stereos, QUEST cards, alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes.

    (really, buying FOOD , please)

  9. Mary, when we lived in Austin, I would find east by figuring out where Lake Michigan would be. I love the lake, too. I had the blessing of growing up a block away from it.
