  1. Oh Betty...
Yesterday was LOOONNNNNNGGGGGGG, worked 10 1/2 hours, catch up on online stuff, made 10lb potato salad, dissected 2 watermelons, 2 rounds of dishes and caught up on Big Brother before passing out. 8 hours today, home to rest for a tiny bit then off to my sister in laws til I'm a zombie, and home... lather, rinse, repeat, thru Saturday... yawn......
For those of you going to the parade and/or fireworks, be safe out there with all the crazies and have fun!

  2. Well after 2 1/2 very long weeks my husbands grandfather took his final breaths with his family surrounding him... He has been our neighbor for as long as my mom has lived in this house (50+ years) he has always been a part of me and my growing up.. It's hard to imagine this little block and our families without him.. He was such a lovely man and active, he truly lived everyday.. R.I.P. Pablo. May you finally be at peace.

  4. It sonds as if you were very fortunate yo have such wonderful grandfather in your life. Many of us have experienced this loss and understand the associated feelings. Feel our love, our support and strength to help you through these difficult days. The feelings of loss don't leave, but the sadness lessens with time.

  9. Just got back in from tending the roses and trimming the shrubbery. I turned on what used to be CAR25, now belletv. So this is the improvement our leaders voted for? Terrible reception, all fuzzy. Nice.

Now lets mention the young lady providing the detail of the entries. She can barely read aloud. Reminiscent of an elementary age level. Nice again.

When our famous copper faced soldiers Iwo Jima float came by, she read, "This is the very popular 'I... wah... jee... mah' float." No kidding. Shame on us. She is young, but she should know, or be corrected.

  12. KK, About the people reading, or reporting on events, being news, or whatever, up here we had a lady that did the news, and she actually became somewhat? literate In the process over about 10 years, but still has problems. The point being, It was somewhat difficult to listen to an adult perform so poorly, and not do anything about It. We used to see words on signs, while driving, and wonder how she would pronounce them. One was Apostolic, from a church sign, and we decided she would say A-POSS-TOE-LICK, we would laugh, and laugh. DUMB people, and It's their own fault.

  16. Was it a good parade? I slept through it. I've been suffering from insomnia lately and sometimes don't get to sleep until 6 AM.

Toad, my sister was an English teacher and whenever she saw a misspelled sign in a store, she asked for the manager to correct it. Now that's a grammar Nazi.

  17. Orb's, This weekend we will have bunches of rummage sales In the area. I'll never forget the sign I saw when we first moved up here. It advertised a HUGH RUMMAGE SALE. I laughed till I damn near cried. Twenty years later, I still use It from time to time, when I'm at a sale, and tell others that they are having a HUGH rummage sale over by the grocery store.

I don't know how to get spell checker on the Apple IMac, so I have to keep trying until I succeed or use a different word, which I often what happens. LOL

  18. KK - That was so sweet. It wouldn't play anything but the thought means more anyway. Thank you.
