With the help of a $2.1 million grant, Milwaukee has ordered lockboxes for early voters to place their ballots in this November.
On Tuesday, Mayor Tom Barrett said the city plans to receive the lockboxes within the next month and hopes to have them installed in October. It's not yet clear how many boxes the city will receive and where they will be placed.
“As the president is talking about all of fears that he’s trying to invoke about the postal service, we’re trying to make sure that not only are those being addressed, that we should not have an attack on our postal service, but we want to make sure there’s a safe place in addition to using the postal services,” Barrett said. "Voting integrity is an important issue and we take that very, very seriously.
