It happened to me once. The poor guy even had the same middle initial. Luckily, I saw it first before I checked the messages on the answering machine. But what's even funnier, is the looks I got when I walked into one of my favorite establishments.
I know a guy who's name and birthday are shared by someone else in northern Wisconsin. One day, the Bill that I know was pulled over for something, and then arrested for something that the other Bill did. Funny in retrospect, but not so funny at the time.
I was wondering if the guy I saw in the obits was the same guy that always got me called down to the office at Jerstad? As a lowly 7th grader, at least once a week I would hear the name over the PA and go down to the office with the fear of God in me. I will always think twice when my kids tell me "It wasn't me" because that was my only defense. When the powers to be figured out it really wasn't me, I would get as far as the office door and the secretary would say "Not you".

ReplyDeleteMy husband married someone else the same summer we got married. I was quite upset with him but we have learned to get past such things. =)
ReplyDeleteHappened to me with both my maiden and married names...
ReplyDeleteBut it spooked me out this past summer when I was in Racine and saw our headstone with my name and date of birth on it, next to my husband's.
