World's Largest Army

The world's largest army ... America’s hunters!

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin. Allow me to restate that number. Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world. More men under arms than in Iran. More than in France and Germany combined. These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan 's 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home.

Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world.

The point? Foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower will not go according to plan!

Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of NATIONAL SECURITY!

Very interesting numbers, but the real threat is not from the guns of a marching army. It would be in the form of nuclear bombs, wielded at us from planes or nearby occupied territories. Or, as we have seen, it could come in the anonymous attack of terrorism and tear us apart from deadly illness or chemicals. Unfortunately, citizens with guns have no ability to fight back something like that.

Very well said KK. From the inside is the one the gets me.

We had September 11 and the country really pulled together, now lately America has/is becoming to laid back again.

When I hear about interrogating some of these known terrorist and the method the government uses, some of these human rights groups get their undies all twisted up. Problem is they already have forgotten about the Oklahoma bombing and Twin Towers, etc.

But yet they want to be free!

Fun stats...I was going to make a similar point to kk, but a little more glib.

I believe that it is important that citizens are allowed arms to hunt, for self-defense, for sport shooting, gaming, etc., but also as a means of defense from their own government.

I haven't forgotten Oklahoma bombing... by disgruntled Americans. I haven't forgotten 9/11. I haven't forgotten the loss of our freedoms. Or the sacrifices that were made that week. I haven't forgotten all the mini flags on cars that got wind blown to tatters.

I haven't forgotten the cries of "Either with us, or against us," as Americans were molded with Social Engineering and catch phrases. Every week. EVERY SINGLE WEEK I am at the VA hospital and see the maimed and injured Vets coming back from the Sand Pit. Jim escaped the VA last week. After six months of surgeries and rehab he wheeled his wheelchair out the door, a free man. A "Free man."

No longer does Jim have a job. he is free to sit at home and collect his disabled pay. No longer does Jim have a wife. He is free to find another. No longer does Jim have the use of his legs. He is free to never use stairways, foot paths and operate an auto easily again. Where is Osama? Where are the WMDs?

Sorry SER, I have NOT forgotten. Sure Iraqies have killed each other with their blood feuds. We on the other hand have killed at least 30 to 1 their innocents to ours of 9/11. More than 30 - 1. That's KILLED! No counting the maimed and injured. No counting the mothers, brothers, husbands, and children that hobble and wheel themselves around. We expect them to forgive us these injustices? Like we forgave them? THEY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11!

So now what? We're back to you're either with us or against us? Well SER, I am saddened and appalled that people are still with it. We should be embracing the 60s in more ways than music. It's time to being the men and women home.
