I do not know enough of what you all call Obamacare entails, I will say though that I live with Universal health care..

I absolutely love it, it's not because it's free because we do pay for insurance as well as paying our taxes to fund it. I do have to say the amount of care I see on a day to day case (I am a nursing student) is amazing. Elderly care here is absolutely great. I've talked to many elderly and are very pleased with the care they get. I have used the healthcare here a few times and been very pleased. I haven't had to wait a month to get in. There is a longer wait for surgeries that are not considered life threatening and unfortunately that can be a little long. They do have a 3 month care promise, which means within 3 months you are guaranteed to get the help you need, you might have to travel to other parts of Sweden but it's not that big here.

I know there are bad examples of Universal health care but I think here in Sweden it's great. You will have your horror stories, but to tell you the truth I hear more horror stories coming from over there.

The thing I like the most is that I know, no matter what if someone gets sick and needs care they WILL get it. They will not be subjected to a bunch of unnecessary tests and will receive high quality care. We are all equal in the health care system. Those that have more money will not be treated any better than those that are very poor, just because one has a better insurance than the other.

Swedes have a very low infant mortality rate, high life expectancy and high quality of life indicator. They must be doing something right.

But this may be a moot point, because it may be nothing like the "Obamacare". I really don't know, I'm ashamed to say I haven't delved too deep into the subject as I really don't have to deal with it yet. All I know is that Universal Health Care can be a very good thing.

Why Not,

I think the “Original” idea behind the health care plan may have been good. With politicians being the way they are, fighting back and forth between parties, the health care bill is now 2,000 pages long and from what I have heard, not one politician in Washington DC has read the complete bill, and they voted it in! They have no idea what is all in it!

I believe the Attorney General from Wisconsin is now going to join several other states in a (I think) law suite to stop the plan or make it so Wisconsin does not have to follow it.

I too have not read the Obamacare bill. I will say this though, its a start. When insurance companies can deny coverage to 2 year olds for being too thin or too fat, then something needs to be done. One insurance company denied coverage to a newborn citing a "pre-existing" condition. Really?
I have excema and see a dermatologist for it. I go in, he looks at it and says "okay" and charges me $175 for the 5 minute visit. Is this insane or what?
After 50 years of talking about it, Obama did something about it.
It may not be the greatest bill in the world and yes it needs to be tweaked, but again its a start. Maybe once this is fixed we can talk about reducing our dependency on foreign oil. Then again maybe not as we have only been talking about that for the last 40 years.

I'd be more with Mary on this one. I would love to know all about it, but I do know more people that have had more troubles with their insurance. When you are dealing with Universal health care you are dealing what is cost effective in a non profit organization. Insurance companies want profit and want to give their high ups a nice big bonus while many are left without care, because it might cut down on that. I too think it's a step in the right direction.. As all big changes they need to be tweeked some more than others, I certainly something happens to make health care more affordable and accessible to all.

Interesting or appalling statistics. Many people based an opinion strictly by their gut feeling about the issue without ever doing a bit of research. They were told what to think and how to think with the key hot button phrases, and never bothered to do any research or reading for themselves. The most appalling part is just how hot headed the arguments were without a lick of reason behind them.
