Cute picture. I would have liked to cuddle up instead of fighting this mess. The roads were very slippery and slow going this morning.

I'm hating the snow already. Is it just me, or does it seem that the roads are not being taken care of as much as in the past?

How much snow have you guys gotten so far, and is it still snowing?

Yeah, someone let me know...I want to make sure I really have to pay for snow removal in Sturtevant. I think I got skunked a couple of times last year.

I haven't been outside yet, but it looks like about an inch near the lake. Nothing near the 8-10 inches the lunatics at the National Weather Service and their puppets in the media were raving about yesterday. Gee, kk, I'm surprised you had to go to work. I thought they shut everything down as soon as the Journal Times reported the "news" of another NWS prediction/fantasy. Mme. Zoltar does better than those clowns. They simply have no shame and they simply do not care, because they are yet another government agency that is funded no matter how poorly they perform or how badly they screw up their jobs and other peoples' lives because of it. And all the local forecasters follow the NWS' lead.

I saw a big plow truck laden with salt sitting on the median of Hwy 32 yesterday, idling in the late afternoon. There were a few flakes and some rain falling, but there was nothing for the truck to do. The driver was just sitting there, the engine on and burning fuel (I'm sure that's procedure), waiting for the storm that never came. What do those guys make when they're called out on a Sunday? $60 an hour?

beejay, we received only a couple of inches overnight, maybe 2?

Further west it came down quite hard, 6-10 inches. The lake actually protected us last night as the wind was easterly and since the water is about 40 degrees, we had rain from 4 to about midnight... before the wind shifted.

The rain then froze and the roads were icy under the snow. It is still snowing. You will get dinged for snow removal, I'm pretty sure of it.

Had to drive in it at 3AM to go to work. Half of roads were not even plowed. GRRR! I hate winter!

Hey guys.. sorry I have MIA lately.

Been working on some stuff and then on Friday my husband and I were in a car accident. :(
Poor car.. we've only had it about a month or so.
Poor husband...... even more. A car can be replaced, a human can't.
I have to say this has been the scariest thing to ever happen to me/us. I thought he was dieing.
Had nothing to do with the weather either. Beautiful day... dry pavement, a little after 2 pm.

To make it short.... 3 car accident.
#1 rear ended #2 who was stopped to make a left turn in the middle of Lathrop Ave. Us, (#3)traveling in the opposite direction were hit by #2. when #2 got pushed into our lane . Husband swerved. Didn't make a difference. #3 was pushed across the street ending up on the sidewalk against the new Cricket cellular store and into a pole.

Bang boom crash...
Him..
2 broken ribs ( 4 & 5 left side) 17 staples to his head.
Multiple bruises
Developing a black eye now!?
Me..
Severe contusion to left side of face
( I didn't even recognize me!)
Eye swollen shut
both knees bruised
large bruise on left thigh
many other bumps and bruises.

I won't even go into the emotional trauma that this has caused.

He got the worst of it though. I can still move around.

Send healing thoughts

Drive careful everyone.

OMG, DogAddicts, I'm so sorry to hear about that. Broken ribs are VERY painful, And staples. And contusions. Oh, I'm so sorry. You'll both be a long time healing. I don't know what to say. Obey your doctors orders. Are you both home? Take care of yourselves.

Thanks Orbs,
Yes we are both home and have a very good friend doing whatever she can for us, and others there to help when needed.
It just kills me I can't do anything to help him. I mean, I look horrible.. but his is so much more painful. It hurts me to see him in so much discomfort.
I"m sorry to disturb this happy thread with such downer news..
Maybe it is all sinking in now and I am feeling angry, scared and hurt.
Inattentive driving??????? She could have killed 5 people plus herself!
Sorry, that's my vent.
I'll crawl back in my drug induced hole now....

hugs to you DA, I feel so bad for you and the pain you guys are going thru :( Saturday night we were coming home from milwaukee and were one car away from quite a crash too. Dry conditions, just inattentiveness again, it's getting bad out there on GOOD days!

DA, so sorry to hear of your terrible situation. I am so glad you are both ok and will eventually heal. It is amazing what the body can do to repair itself.

Yes, first comes the physical healing, then the emotional side kicks in to mess with ya....Eat healthy, rest and be kind to yourself. We are here for you if you need to vent.

Sorry to hear about your accident,DA. Saw your pics on the other site. That car is totaled. I been though an accident before. It's no fun. Best wishes on a speedy recovery. Just remember,we're here for you.

Thanks everyone. It's good to have a place to vent.
Bummer when depression sets in. I hate going anywhere because people stare!!
I just have one thing to say.. Insurance companies SUCK!!!!!!
My husband can hardly move and all car-killer's insurance will pay for is a compact! How the heck is he supposed to get in that?
So we go there, and all they have is a cargo van........ duhhh the dude's got 2 broken ribs. How's he gonna climb up there? So they tell us to come back in a couple hours and they will save a car for us.
Cool stuff.. we get there and they give us a free upgrade ( we are already paying for one upgrade) We get a Fusion!!! That's what our car is/was. Not all tricked out like his, but he can get in, sit, ride comfortably and get out without too much of a problem.

So.. we got that for 3 days. At least I can drive him to the Drs appointments instead of having to arrange/rely on someone else.
This is horrible...... how one little minute can change your whole life and outlook.
This man put 47000 miles on his last car in a year. He drives A LOT for his job. Mostly in IL. Not one accident, fender bender or ding in that car. He traded it in for this because of the mileage...... get a few blocks from home and BAM.
Now he's jittery about being in a car.
Did I mention we've only had that car for a little over a month?

I think anyone was prepared to get as much snow as we got the other day, here it is snowing again today. People tend to "forget" how to TEXT and drive (or put on their makeup, read the paper, talk on the phone, yell at the kids, drink beer....) and drive in the snow. It really irks me to see people driving WAY too fast for road conditions, And trying to do too much crap at the same time to prevent accidents. I'd rather be sitting in front of the fire place, cuddled up w/ my hubby and son than to be out driving in this crap!!!!!!
