The Truth Will NOT Set You Free

For some reason, I have trouble learning that lesson.  I have a tendency to blurt out the truth at “inappropriate” moments, and then suffer the consequences.  The truth about the truth is that almost no one is interested in it.  After 12 years of an education that supposedly stressed honesty and truth, I graduated to the reality that honesty is rarely the best policy.  Lying is how you get ahead.  Demanding the truth is how you get broke.

I was whining recently to my shrink about my problems.  Her response was to tell me that I should be proud that I live “a life of integrity.”  I said, “That and two bucks will get you a cup of coffee."  Seriously, what good is it to act ethically in an unethical world?  Lying John and his buddies are living proof of the success of dishonesty.  No matter what one may believe about a “judgment day” after death, the truth is that Dickert and his buddies will be prosperous and long gone when the bills for their crimes come due.

It’s hardly just Dickert.  Dishonesty pervades politics like cancer.  We piss and moan about it, but we’re not going to do anything about it.  The politicians know that.  They rely on our apathy.  They are rarely disappointed.  You can complain all you want, but it means nothing if it’s not working towards unseating the unscrupulous scoundrels infesting our public life.

Locally, Alderman Kaplan was a big mouthed, loose cannon packing heat.  The bag of wind was constantly spouting off about the people he supposedly represents, casting Racine residents as villains in their own city.  He even convinced the Common Council to arm themselves against the citizens.  Funny, isn’t it, how quiet he’s become since his seat on the Common Council was threatened?  That’s the only thing that corrupt politicians understand.  Take away their power and they’re just petty criminals.

Why do we indoctrinate our children with the notion of right and wrong if we’re not willing to defend it?  I don’t know and I don’t think I care anymore.  I’ve been a fool.  Today I stand to lose literally everything that I own because I blurted out the truth.  Building management took offense at my comments and my lease is not being renewed before the bedbugs have been eradicated from the building.  Thus, I can’t take anything with me for fear of infestation.

That’s it.  That’s the last shot to the nuts that I take for the truth.  From now on, I’m to be known as lying Orbs.  I was an extremely successful liar when I was drinking.  Imagine how much better I’ll be at it sober.

Party on, lying Orbs!

Orbs, your shrink had it right.
It takes a healthy body and mind to fight the political trash. Victories are rare, but always worth the effort.

Lying Orbs does't ring well with me.

How about Irregulars?

Indeed "Lying Orb's" sucks. Very bad ring to It. Just doesn't work. Management SUCKS also, and hopefully the NEXT person over the boiler, will enjoy all the HOT. COLD, NOISEY life you endured there, and you will ultimately be better off for It. You, Me, and all the other honest people that don't have the ability to make much of a difference anymore, can just sit back, and say "SEE I TOLD YOU SO"

I will however, say It again. One of my all time favorite "LIFE" tunes, Is Billy Joel;s "Honesty" It really has been my mantra for years. I'm sure It's on "YouTube" but I have no idea, how to get It, and post these songs? I spent my first 21 years pretty much listening to songs of various artists. Pretty soft music much of It, In comparison to today. It was all about Harry Nilsson, Simon and Garfunkel, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, Karen Carpenter (perhaps the greatest singer EVER) CHICAGO, and on, and on. I say all of this, because they all had music that had a meaning. To me "Honesty" had LOTS of meaning, and I will always love It, and practice It.

Stay honest Orb's. Just let the ones that are going to feel the pain of dishonesty fight the battle. Actually we did ours In the 60s and 70s when young people came together, and fought a war against a war to save the lives of our soldiers, and ultimately some of our Mothers, and Fathers to be.

My mom had a saying for everything. The one that comes to mind is, "no one ever promised you fair in life. "

All we really have is our own dignity. You just have to rise above the misgivings of others. It doesn't hurt to hold your tongue from time to time, as those who practice evil will eventually be their own demise.

Billy Joel - "Honesty," http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuFScoO4tb0

I lack diplomacy and tact. I'm supposed to pretend to respect people that I don't respect. Fine. I gotta figure out a way to buddy up to lying John and cash in on his bonanza.

A former enemy turned ally who has some command of language and is not afraid to speak out might be worth something. I'll patrol the blogs and news sites and flame anybody who dares cross my master. I've caused articles to disappear from the net simply by posting a comment that is so ghastly, yet so obviously true, that the powers that be dare not let it stand.

I'm tired of not selling out. Think of it, when you buy me you get a whole cast of characters. I'm like dozens of commentators in one.

KK, EVERYBODY holds their tongue from time to time. I'm certain Orb's and myself are included. When someone gets dumped on, over and over, It gets really difficult to take. I have feelings for everybody, and that's one of my major problems. I/WE cannot change the World, and I think thats something needing to be learned.

My landlord has screwed over so many people in his career that he never enters one of his buildings unless he has his "muscle" with him. He always hires one burly maintenance man to be his rent collector and to protect him from the hundreds of people he has fucked over. I talked to his then-enforcer when I first moved in here. He considered my landlord pathetic, but, hey, a job is a job.

Speaking of jobs, I know for a fact that my landlord deals with all of his employees on a cash basis to avoid taxes and minimum wage laws. Wonder if the IRS would be interested in that?

I bit my tongue when the illegal aliens removed the asbestos from the old boiler with no protection. They chipped it out and threw it out in garbage bags. I should have notified the EPA, but I didn't want to lose my apartment. Asbestos dust covered the laundry room and everything else in the basement. There was no remediation.

Actually, I did complain about the noise of putting in the new boiler. I also complained that the carbon monoxide detector in my bedroom kept going off. Again, I was threatened with being thrown out so I took the battery out of the detector and have felt weak and headache-y ever since. If you complain you go out the door so that he can find another person to fuck over.

He makes his living by damaging the lives of others and preying on their weaknesses. Whatever bad befalls him, he deserves. He's always pointing out how rich he is. That money won't mean shit if someone he screwed over takes him out.

Orbs - your honesty is inspiring and motivating. Don't lose faith. The key to change lies in numbers.

One person alone is a nuisance and a target. A community that is united is a powerful force. People get too focused on micromanaging their lives, which in these hard times is understandable, and they forget about the bigger picture that change only happens with a unified voice. Numbers don't lie, people do.

Their "gang" is a loose group of corrupt fools, none of which have any real intelligence or good ideas beyond keeping themselves in power. Once the chain is broken, they will all fall. That day is coming.

Hold strong, you are not alone. And all you have is your own dignity and legacy. They will have to live with theirs (apparently crooks don't mind being crooks), and you will have to live with yours.

The revolution is coming...we will create change or die trying. We are with you, Honest Orbs.

Wow. Thank you.

I also received an email that urged me to carry on.

I'm very appreciative of the support.

And I'm proud to be candid on these and other pages. "You're only as sick as your secrets." Then how come I'm not healthy? What else do I need to confess?

Orbs, I'm very proud of you for speaking your mind.

You know, if you put the batteries back in and it goes off you should first open a window and then call 911 as there might be a carbon monoxide leak. You don't know if your neighbors have the detectors and you could save some lives. And, have the Fire Department will check the furnace out. At which time they will find out it was improperly installed.
When it starts affecting your health it is time to do something. Hell, you've already been evicted.

We just had the Gas Co. here because a tenant had a stove with two pilots out and a burner on. The whole building smells like gas, but the tenant was unaware.

Technically, Mary, I'm not being evicted. He won't renew my lease. The battery already went back in the CO detector a few hours ago.

I'm contacting the Health Dept on other building matters tomorrow. If the detector goes off, I'll tell them.
