Seattle Airport Employee Hijacks Plane, Does Barrel Roll, Then Crashes With F-15's In Hot Pursuit

A 29-year-old airline worker at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport hijacked an airplane Friday night, performed aerobatic maneuvers, and then crashed into sparsely populated Ketron Island as two National Guard F-15 fighter jets followed closely behind.

No passengers were aboard the 76-seat Horizon Air Q400 turboprop plane stolen by the ground service agent from Pierce County, as he conducted an "unauthorized takeoff" from the airport.
The airport's tower identified the suspect as "Rich," who crashed on Ketron island in a wooded area, avoiding hitting any structures according to Alaska Airlines.
The F-15 fighter jets scrambled by the National Guard were flying so quickly that one of them broke the sound barrier, causing a sonic boom that some residents mistook for an explosion, according to the sheriff's department.
Dispelling rumors that the man had been shot down, Washington Governor Jay Inslee said in a statement “The responding fighter pilots flew alongside the aircraft and were ready to do whatever was needed to protect us, but in the end the man flying the stolen plane crashed on Ketron Island.”
“Those pilots are trained for moments like tonight and showed they are ready and capable,” Inslee said.
During the hijacking, the pilot can be heard communicating with air traffic control as recorded by Twitter user Jimmy Thomson (@jwsthomson).
"I've got a lot of people that care about me," said the man. "It's going to disappoint them to hear that I did this. I would like to apologize to each and every one of them. Just a broken guy, got a few screws loose I guess. Never really knew it, until now."
In another segment, an air traffic control operator tells another individual "Right now he's just flying around, and he just needs some help controlling the aircraft," to which the man interjected "Nah, I mean, I don't need that much help; I've played some video games before."  (Full audio here)
The man then says "Ah, minimum wage. We'll just chalk it up to that. Maybe that will grease the gears a little bit with the higher-ups."
“This is probably jail time for life, huh?” said the man. “I would hope it is for a guy like me.”
“Oh, Richard,” said an air-traffic controller, “We’re not going to worry or think about that. But could you start a left turn please?”
At another point, the man says "I'm gonna land it, in a safe kind of manner. I think I'm gonna try to do a barrel roll, and if that goes good, I'm just gonna nose down and call it a night."
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office directed inquiries to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, indicating federal law enforcement officials will be taking a primary role in the investigation into how the tragic heist unfolded.
The plane had been in a “maintenance position” and was not scheduled for passenger flight when it was stolen, according to a statement from Alaska Airlines.
“Our hearts are with the family of the individual on board as well as all our Alaska Air and Horizon Air employees,” Horizon Air Chief Operating Officer Constance von Muehlen said in a video statement. -LA Times
According to a job posting on Horizon Air's website, ground service agents "play a critical role to keep our flights running smoothly and safely. Whatever the weather, you'll direct aircraft for takeoff, gate approach, load and unload luggage, and operate equipment to de-ice planes in the winter. "

Monsanto Slammed With $289 Million Verdict In Historic 'RoundUp' Cancer Lawsuit

Profile picture for user Tyler Durden
by Tyler Durden
Sat, 08/11/2018 - 00:30

A San Francisco Jury awarded $289 million in damages to a former school groundskeeper, Dewayne Johnson, who said Monsanto's Roundup weedkiller gave him terminal cancer. The award consists of $40 million in compensatory damages and $250 million in punitive damages.
Johnson's trial was fast-tracked due to the severe state of his non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph system he says was triggered by Roundup and Ranger Pro, a similar glyphosate herbicide that he applied up to 30 times per year. His doctors didn't think he'd live to live to see the verdict.
Johnson testified that he had been involved in two accidents during his work in which he was doused with the product, the first of which happened in 2012. Two years later, the 46-year-old father of two was diagnosed with lymphoma - which has covered as much as 80% of his body in lesions.

Monsanto says it will appeal the verdict.
“Today’s decision does not change the fact that more than 800 scientific studies and reviews -- and conclusions by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. National Institutes of Health and regulatory authorities around the world -- support the fact that glyphosate does not cause cancer, and did not cause Mr. Johnson’s cancer,” Monsanto Vice President Scott Partridge said in a statement.
Monsanto is a subsidiary of Germany's Bayer AG, which closed on its $66 billion purchase of the agrochemical company in June.
On Tuesday, Johnson's attorney Brent Wisner urged jurors to hold Monsanto liable and slap them with a verdict that would "actually change the world" - after arguing that Monsanto knew about glyphosate's risks of cancer, but decided to ignore and bury the information.

According to The Guardian, Johnson is the first person to take Monsanto to trial over allegations that the chemical sold under the Roundup brand is linked to cancer although thousands have made similar legal claims across the United States. This lawsuit focuses on the chemical glyphosate, the world’s most widely used herbicide, which Monsanto began marketing as Roundup in 1974.  The company began by presenting it as a “technological breakthrough” that could kill almost every weed without harming humans or the environment. -SHTFplan.com
In September, 2017 the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) concluded that glyphosates were not likely carcinogenic to humans, based on a decades-long assessment. In 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO)'s cancer arm issued an opposite statement - warning that glyphosate was "probably carcinogenic to humans."

Johnson's case isn't part of the consolidated proceedings in Missouri, Delaware or California state court, where some 2,000 similar cases are pending. It's also separate from a federal multidistrict litigation waiting to be heard by US District Judge Vance Chabria of San Francisco - who allowed hundreds of Roundup lawsuits to proceed to trial after ruling that there was sufficient evidence for a jury to hear the cases despite calling a plaintiff's expert opinions "shaky."
Documents released in August of 2017 led to questions over Monsanto's efforts to influence the news media and scientific research and revealed internal debate over the safety of its highest-profile product, the weed killer Roundup.
As the New York Times noted last year, new internal emails, among other things, reveal ethical objections from former employees to "ghost writing" research studies that were pawned off as 'independent' analyses.
The documents underscore the lengths to which the agrochemical company goes to protect its image. Documents show that Henry I. Miller, an academic and a vocal proponent of genetically modified crops, asked Monsanto to draft an article for him that largely mirrored one that appeared under his name on Forbes’s website in 2015. Mr. Miller could not be reached for comment.
A similar issue appeared in academic research. An academic involved in writing research funded by Monsanto, John Acquavella, a former Monsanto employee, appeared to express discomfort with the process, writing in a 2015 email to a Monsanto executive, “I can’t be part of deceptive authorship on a presentation or publication.” He also said of the way the company was trying to present the authorship: “We call that ghost writing and it is unethical.”
The newly disclosed emails also reveal internal discussions which cast some doubt over whether internal scientists actually believed in the company's external messaging that Roundup was, in fact, safe.
“If somebody came to me and said they wanted to test Roundup I know how I would react — with serious concern."
And, here's more:
The documents also show that a debate outside Monsanto about the relative safety of glyphosate and Roundup, which contains other chemicals, was also taking place within the company.
In a 2002 email, a Monsanto executive said, “What I’ve been hearing from you is that this continues to be the case with these studies — Glyphosate is O.K. but the formulated product (and thus the surfactant) does the damage.”
In a 2003 email, a different Monsanto executive tells others, “You cannot say that Roundup is not a carcinogen … we have not done the necessary testing on the formulation to make that statement.”
Not surprisingly, Monsanto's lawyers have argued that the comments above have simply been taken out of context...
Monsanto said it was outraged by the documents’ release by a law firm involved in the litigation.
“There is a standing confidentiality order that they violated,” said Scott Partridge, vice president of global strategy for Monsanto. He said that while “you can’t unring a bell,” Monsanto would seek penalties on the firm.
“What you’re seeing are some cherry-picked things that can be made to look bad,” Mr. Partridge said. “But the substance and the science are not affected by this.”
Glyphosphate - Roundup's main ingredient, was first approved for use in weed killers in 1974, and has grown to become the world's most popular and widely used herbicide.

ANOTHER Black Eye for MTP Residents

Dear Village Board,

Yet ANOTHER Black Eye for MTP Residents - as:

(A Better MTP sends)

Over the last week, we received two separate tips from reliable
sources that negotiations between Mount Pleasant and the Racine Water
Commission regarding amending the water agreement for Foxconn have
been abandoned for the time being.

The reason given to us by both sources is that in spite of a good
faith agreement, Racine was reportedly blindsided when Mt. Pleasant
decided to "revise" the agreement by adding in and taking out items
Racine never agreed to.

When commission members were presented with the "new" agreement, they
walked out of the meeting without any further discussion.

To make matters worse and far more insulting, Village President Dave
DeGroot penned a commentary in the Journal Times just a couple of days
later, complaining about Racine Water Utility REC fees, basically
rubbing their faces in the entire deal.

Ah, leadership. Our sources tell us that the people on the Water
Commission are super angry.

We think it's just another day doing business in Mt. Pleasant.

https://www.facebook.com/abettermtpleasant/

It is time for the entire MTP Board and President to resign.

Sincerely,

Tim & Cindy

When You Receive a Jury Summons

So you've received a jury summons in the mail. GREAT! This is your
chance to serve conscientiously as a fully informed juror. Here's a
brief rundown of what you need to know to do your best as a trial or
grand juror.

1. Be Fully Informed
As a juror, you have the right to vote your conscience, even if it
means setting aside the law to conscientiously acquit someone who has
technically broken the law.

You cannot legally be punished for or required to change your verdict.
Though there is no requirement for jurors to deliver a verdict, if
jurors cannot agree on a verdict, judges may issue what are known as
"Allen" or "dynamite" charges. These are additional instructions to
the jury that strongly imply to jurors that they are somehow remiss in
their duty if they do not reach a verdict. Jurors should not give up
their conscientiously held beliefs under such pressure. If they cannot
reach a verdict, the judge will at some point declare

Judges and prosecutors may try to conceal this right from you. They
may even openly deny that it exists. Appeals courts have ruled that
although such denials are false, they also constitute "harmless error"
for which the higher court provides no relief to the defendant. This
means that there is no penalty for the government when it falsely
instructs jurors on the subject, so it is something we expect to
continue for the foreseeable future.

Fully Informed Jury Association

Have you ever heard of FIJA? Fully Informed Jury Association.

https://fija.org/

I used to be a member.

One day - I participated in an educational seminar led by Bill - from
West Allis - a retired cop - of all things. He had twelve of us dress
in Black Robes - and march around the Milwaukee Courthouse - passing
out literature from FIJA - to inform the people that they also had the
right to decide if the law under which the Defendant was being
prosecuted was Just.

The concept is Jury Nullification - first used by WIlliam Penn....

Penn and William Mead had been arrested in 1670 for illegally
preaching a Quaker sermon and disturbing the peace, but four jurors,
led by Edward Bushell, refused to find them guilty. ... This series of
events is considered a significant milestone in the history of jury
nullification.

'They're going to kill me next': Yemen family fears drone strikes under Trump

Meqdad Tuaiman with his children. His father and his 17-year-old brother were killed in a drone strike in 2011, after going to look for missing camels. Photograph: The National Organisation for Drone Victims
Every day, as they hear the whine of the drones overhead, the Tuaiman family waits for Donald Trump to finish killing them.

The drones used to hover about once a week over al-Rawdah, the Yemeni village where the family lives, sending children running for cover.

Now, according to Meqdad Tuaiman, the drones come every day – sometimes three or four times.

Usually they arrive in the afternoon. Other times they come after sundown and linger until sunrise.

The drones have not fired their weapons in four months, but their patrols have intensified since late January, when Trump took office. Meqdad, a 24-year-old used-car salesman and occasional pipeline guard, considers it no coincidence.

In October 2011, Meqdad’s father, Saleh, and his 17-year-old brother Jalal were killed in a drone strike after they drove into the desert to find some missing camels. Another brother who was with them – Ezzaldeen, 14 – escaped the blast and hid until morning, when he found the two shattered bodies.

In 2014, the Guardian gave Meqdad’s 13-year-old brother a camera to record his daily life. In January 2015, he too was killed in a drone strike.

US drone strikes in Yemen are a key part of the campaign against al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), but the Tuaiman family denies any links to terrorism and say the family has never received any explanation from either US authorities or their Yemeni government allies.

According to Meqdad, his brother Ezzaldeen has started to say: “They’re going to kill me next.”

Under the Trump administration, airstrikes have escalated dramatically in Iraq and Syria, sending claims of civilian casualties skyrocketing.

It Was 50 Years Ago Today: Abbie Hoffman Threw Money at the New York Stock Exchange

To denounce the Vietnam War and bring about the “death of money,” the protest took a playful turn.

Abbie Hoffman

Fifty years ago, on August 24, 1967, Abbie Hoffman and a group of friends invaded the heart of American capitalism, the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street. They threw money from the visitors’ gallery onto the floor, and the brokers and traders there leapt into the air to grab the dollar bills floating down. Trading was interrupted, briefly. News coverage was massive.

At the time, the Vietnam War was reaching a peak—486,000 Americans were fighting there by the end of that year. Lyndon Johnson was president, and Donald Trump was a 20-year-old student at the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. He was getting a student deferment that kept him from being drafted and sent to Vietnam. That summer, he was working for his father’s New York City real estate firm, refusing to rent to black people.

Four for Fridays!

Good morning everyone I hope your week has gone good for you. We have had some really nice weather this past week minus the thunderstorms. The farmers really need the rain too. Here are your questions.

1) What was the very first job you remember having?

2) What was the job that you really liked?

3) What is the most hours you had to work overtime?

4) What job did you have to work the overtime at?

Have a great week!

Spate of Milwaukee homicides have one thing in common — arguments that escalate into violence

From JSOnline:

Ashley Luthern, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Published 4:20 p.m. CT Aug. 8, 2018 | Updated 5:49 p.m. CT Aug. 8, 2018

Mike De Sisti / Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Of the six homicides reported in Milwaukee in less than 48 hours, police say five of the killings were prompted by the same thing: an argument.

It's familiar problem facing the city.

For the past several years, about a quarter of Milwaukee's homicides  have stemmed from an argument or fight. Nearly all of those homicides involved a gun.

"Here's where I say this is a cowardly act, to escalate an argument, to escalate to the use of a gun is a cowardly act," Police Chief Alfonso Morales said Tuesday.

About 10 hours after Morales, Mayor Tom Barrett, city officials, and faith and community leaders called for an end to the violence, another homicide was reported

$2 million in cash, $1.8 million in gold seized as part of pot ring indictment

From JSOnline:

Bruce Vielmetti, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Published 12:58 p.m. CT Aug. 8, 2018 | Updated 2:19 p.m. CT Aug. 8, 2018
(Photo: ANNA REED / Statesman Journal file)
Federal prosecutors in Milwaukee are trying to take more than $1.8 million in gold coins and $2 million in cash from people charged with conspiring to sell hundreds of pounds of marijuana.

A superseding indictment filed Tuesday names a dozen defendants, from Milwaukee, Virginia and California. The group is accused of conspiring to distribute more than 200 pounds of pot from January 2015 to last month.

The original indictment in January named only Josef Habib and Corianne Markowski of Milwaukee.

Those two and eight of the newly charged defendants also face counts of money laundering the proceeds of the operation, and Habib faces two counts of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and one of possessing a gun during drug trafficking.

The indictment lists large amounts of cash and drugs seized from various defendants' homes, vehicles and safe deposit boxes, as well as 157 one-ounce gold coins taken from one defendant in California and two safety deposit boxes there, as well as one handgun seized at a residence in Greenfield connected to Habib.

Blowback: UniCredit Becomes First Major Corporation To Sever Ties With Facebook Over Ethics

Facebook has lost a major advertiser, UniCredit SpA, which has severed all ties alleging that the social media giant hasn't acted ethically, reports Bloomberg - which notes that "other large companies" may follow suit.

CEO Jean Pierre Mustier says the bank maintains that Facebook hasn't acted properly, and the Italian financial group will no longer have any type of business relationship with the Menlo Park, CA company.
Mustier was referring to business activities including advertising and marketing campaigns, a spokesman for UniCredit said. The bank currently has a swath of Facebook accounts -- which are regularly updated. -Bloomberg
Facebook has come under intense scrutiny for failing to safeguard user data amid the Cambridge Analytica data harvesting scandal, revealed in March by The Guardian and The New York Times. The data from up to 87 million users, and possibly more, was found to have been "harvested" via the psychological profiling app "Thisisyourdigitallife" - which was created by two psychologists (one of whom currently works for Facebook), and was specially designed to collect and share information.
Despite Facebook's attempts at damage control, UniCredit says they're done with the social media giant - and there have been others. Unilever UV and Sonos Inc. have also threatened to pull ads.
In late July, Facebook’s shares fell over 20 percent after second-quarter revenue showed the first signs of user disenchantment in the midst of public scandals over privacy and content. The company has been under fire following revelations that personal information on as many as 87 million users ended up in the hands of Cambridge Analytica, a political consulting firm that worked on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. Mozilla Corp., which develops the Firefox web browser, said in March it would pause its ads from appearing on Facebook as a result. -Bloomberg
Was UniCredit's decision really based on Facebook's ethics? Or was the data harvesting scandal perhaps a convenient excuse to disengage from an advertising model that wasn't worth the expense?
In late 2016, Proctor & Gamble cut $200 million in digital ad spending - including scaling back targeted ads from Facebook. In March, the company contended that too much digital ad spending is "a waste."
Once armed with more measurement data, P&G discovered that the average view time for a mobile ad appearing in a news feed, on platforms such as Facebook , was only 1.7 seconds. The Cincinnati-based company also realized some people were seeing P&G ads far too many times. -WSJ
"Once we got transparency, it illuminated what reality was," said P&G's chief brand officer, Marc Pritchard. Ad fraud was another concern.
About a year ago, Mr. Pritchard publicly issued an ultimatum for tech companies to clean up the digital ad ecosystem or it would cut spending. He called on the industry to fix the rampant digital ad fraud and asked tech giants such as Alphabet Inc.’s Google and Facebook Inc. to implement safeguards to prevent ads from appearing around controversial content and to allow independent verification of their ad measurements. -WSJ
Whatever the case, Facebook has now lost a major corporate advertiser - will others follow suit?

Man accused of dragging dog sentenced to probation

From The Journal Times.com:

Valente
RACINE — A Racine man accused of dragging a dog with his van was sentenced to probation Tuesday.
Peter M. Valente, 54, of the 1400 block of LaSalle Street, pleaded no contest to an amended misdemeanor charge of intentionally mistreating animals. He had originally been charged with felony mistreatment of animals and intentionally leading an animal from a motor vehicle.
During his plea and sentencing hearing, Valente briefly addressed the court. “I’m just so sorry this happened,” Valente said.

Stayed sentence

Assistant District Attorney Micha Schwab said the state offered Valente a plea deal because they were unable to meet the burden of proof required for the felony conviction.
“As your honor knows, I have the highest burden, which is to prove every element beyond a reasonable doubt,” Schwab said. “In order to prove a felony, I had to prove intent, and with all the evidence I have, I would not be able to prove intent without a reasonable doubt.”
Schwab recommended one year initial incarceration, plus one year extended supervisor, stayed for one year of probation. A stayed sentence means Valente would not serve the sentence unless he violated terms of the purposed one-year probation.
The sentence would run consecutively to a revocation sentence Valente served after being arrested while on probation for a previous crime.

#OVRWATCH Trailer Intro

It’s a dark time for understanding reality. Although the information
age has made knowledge accessible, the forces of atheism and religion
only pursue and promote the data that support their worldviews. An
overwatcher on youtube along with a small group of rebel reality
fighters have established bases in cyberspace to combat the dark
forces of pseudo-skepticism. While evading the dreaded atheist fleet
and the agents of religion, overwatch and rebel fighters get closer to
reality. Meanwhile The Evil Powers obsessed with their flawed
worldviews have dispatched thousands of assholes across youtube and
cyberspace to crush the resistance.

UPDATED!

Dear Village Board,

Question for you -

All - feel free to answer....

When Residents of MTP go to a Board meeting, are they attending an
orderly meeting ruled by Roberts Rules of Orders – or experiencing a
night at the Trailer Park hosted by MTP Police Chief Timothy Zarzecki
and his wife – involved in a spitting, drawer busting, throwing around
stuff, and a suicidal fight which must be broke up by the Sheriff?

When the Mount Pleasant Police Chief and his wife behave together like
Southern White Trailer Park Trash – Should it be any surprise that the
Mount Pleasant Police Department can’t make a competent Police
Investigation? Maybe the MTP Police Chief was too busy to act
responsibly because….

From the arrest report:

Why does General Incompetence Rule? Why has the Established Rule of
Law been overthrown - violated repeatedly - and not addressed?

Sincerely,

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my friends!  How are you?  The weather has certainly been nicer, but don't hold your breath.  I'm sure August's hell fire will be roasting us soom.  Like chestnuts over an open fire.  Wear your sun block, stay hydrated, and avoid alcohol.  I realize that that last one might be tough for some people, but booze dehydrates you.  Most alkies end up shriveled pieces of bacon anyway.  Booze is bad for you.

So is marijuana, but for a different reason.  Marijuana is usuallysmoked, and that's bad for your lungs.  How about those advisory referendum questions on marijuana that will be on the ballot in November?  What's your opinion?  Mine is that I'd rather face a horde of pot heads rather than a hordfe of alcoholics.  Alcohol makes you angry and crazy to fight.  Marijuana makes you mellow and gives you the munchies.  Maybe if marijuana had been the drug of choice for pioneers as opposed to alcohol, we might have killed far fewer Native Americans and treated their land better.  I'm all for legalizing marijuana, but I'd like to see alcohol made illegal again.  Alcohol kills and kills and kills.  Marijuana makes you sleepy.

Was marijuana unheard of in the Old Country?  The men and women who came over here were thoroughly ingrained with booze.  What a different country we might have if it weren't based on the murder of innocents.  And murder of the bison, too. Our ancestors were racists who hated Native Americans and enslaved black people.  Realize that our people were burning "witches" to death. Superstition ruled the day.

I hear there are six Democrats looking to run against Walker.  With no strong leader among them, the Dems are setting themselves up for a loss again.  We need ONE candidate that we can all get behind in his or her efforts to defeat Walker.  Gov. Walker is one of the stupidest people I've ever seen.  He couldn't find his ass with both hands, but he'll win if the Democrats don't put up someone extraordinary.  It's unfortunate that most honest men and women want nothing to do with politics.  Thus we get the liars and grifters and criminals in our Congress.

If nothing else, the corruption in our government can be ignored if you're high.  Heck, just about anything can be ignored if you're buzzed.   I would think the politicians would want to spread the effects of grass around to numb the populace.  A reefer a day keeps the untouchables away.  And why do Racine police press state charges against those acusedof possession of pot.  25 years ago Racine made possession of 25 grams or less a citation offense.  Why do our police irgnore the will of the people?  Do they take pleasure in brutally punishing someone for consuming a product that our bodies have abundant receptors for.  Unfortunately, I believe that the police wish to continue the War on Drugs because they get forfeited money and cars.

That film is funny as hell.

I love you all and thank you for stopping by to read myblog.

On-a-Stick This

From The Shepherd Express:

by Art Kumbalek
Aug. 07, 2018
5:41 p.m.

I’m Art Kumbalek and man oh man manischewitz what a world, ain’a? Listen, it’s early-voting week for the primary, so I suggest you VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! now before our state Republicans and Russians finagle a way that the only people ever allowed to vote are white Republican Trumpites who live in Honky-sha County, what the fock.
Yeah yeah, seems like it could be a slow summertime week here, so what with the PGA Championship teeing off this week, I thought I’d share a little story for all of you’s golf fans:
So this guy was not having his best day on the golf course. After he choked on a six-inch putt, his partner asked him what the problem was. The guy says, “It’s the wife. She’s taken up golf and since she’s been playing, she’s cut my sex down to once a focking week.” And his partner says, “That’s nothing, She’s cut some of us out altogether!” Ba-ding!
Hey, I heard the other day that Pope Francis said that the “death penalty is unacceptable in all cases.” And I’m shocked, shocked that President Trumpel-thinskin hasn’t so far tweet-pissed all over the pontiff for sounding so un-American, ain’a?
I’m sure the pope, and a bunch of like-thinkers, considered the question of whether or not the guy or gal to be executed might actually be innocent and putting innocent people to death was supposed to be for private-industry types like what Doc “Black Jack” Kevorkian used to do. And if the government starts executing too many innocent people, it could be used as an example of the goddamn government dicking around with free enterprise and trying to horn in again.
But then there’s the example of the state of Texas, where they choose to croak the whole kit and caboodle—guilty and innocent—then let God sort ’em out ’cause that’s the Christian way to do it. They believe that when you get to the Pearly Gates, if God figures you’re innocent he gives you the green light to come on in and what the fock, heaven sure beats sitting around in prison for the rest of your life, ain’a? And if you’re guilty as sin after all, he sends you to hell, which from what I hear is exactly like being dirt poor and living in the Lone Star State, so big focking deal.
And I’ve got a hunch that an expanded death penalty is sky high on the Trump to-do list ’cause I’m sure he’s got a list of preferred candidates yea long, I kid you not. Of course, he’d prefer to turn the executions into a reality TV/entertainment shebang, maybe on a pay-per-view like the Big-Time Wrestling. But I suspect he’d have to really jazz it up or it would be goddamn butt-boring but good, ’cause who the hell wants to pay good money just to watch some guy laying on a cot get a shot in the arm and then just go to sleep ’till he croaks?
Very little value for your entertainment dollar, there. By executive order, Trump will get the government out of the capital punishment racket and turn it over to the private sector. Let the people over at the Focks nutwork handle a show like that: “America’s Wildest and Wackiest Death Row Executions”—load up an old Pinto or some kind of van with these cons and drive it off Pike’s Peak. Or maybe send a bunch of these bastards and enemies-of-the-people up in a hot-air balloon and for $10 a bullet, members of the general public get a shot at bringing that baby down to Earth, what the fock.
And before I forget, speaking of voting, how the hell does some dink state like a Delaware rate two senators when your Big Ten states like a Michigan or an Ohio also gets dealt only a deuce for the Senate? Come to think of it, why the hell do we even have a Delaware, except maybe for a place to dump used-up chemicals and we already got New Jersey for that; so for christ sakes, we don’t need Delaware. For that matter, we don’t need a Rhode Island or a South Carolina either. Cut them loose or make them part of another state or give them to the Palestines, but let’s do something, ain’a?
Anyways, finally, let’s wrap this now—’cause I think I’m hearing voices—with a quote from Scotty Fitzgerald: “Let me tell you about the rich. They are different from me and you.” You got that right, Gatsby. And here’s proof:
A homeless guy walks up to a ultra rich-looking woman shopping on Rodeo Drive and says “Excuse me, ma’am, but I haven’t eaten anything in four days.” She looks at the guy and says, “God, I wish I had your willpower.”
Ba-ding! ’cause I’m Art Kumbalek and I told you so.

The Poet of America's Most Dangerous City

Aug 02, 2018 | 654 videos
Video by Jackson Tisi

Society begs us to pull up our bootstraps and fly to Venus / But when you keep us padlocked to trenches / It ain’t easy to show our genius.

That’s Kondwani Fidel, a celebrated spoken-word poet from Baltimore, rapping about his experience growing up in America’s most dangerous city. According to a USA Today analysis of crime conducted this year, Baltimore has the highest per capita murder rate in the nation, with nearly 56 murders per 100,000 people.

“Resilience is something that’s ingrained in you at a very young age growing up in Baltimore,” says Fidel in Jackson Tisi’s short documentary, Hummingbirds in the Trenches, from Breakout. “If you’re from or live in Baltimore, every year you’re losing people. That’s just a fact. Nobody goes untouched.”

Shot like a cinematic poem itself, the film follows Fidel through his neighborhood and, ultimately, to a spoken-word performance, where he connects with his fans. Over kinetic shots of city streets and residents, Fidel recounts the adversity he faced in childhood and muses on the nature of ambition and poverty.

To enrich Fidel’s story, Tisi asked him to write three poems specifically for the film. “I wanted to display his talents throughout the piece and really let his performances and writing speak for themselves,” Tisi told The Atlantic.

For his part, Tisi was moved by the spirit he witnessed in the city’s residents. “Baltimore is an incredible place,” Tisi said. “I have been a number of times now and each time I am amazed by the hospitality I am met with. This film was only made possible because the people of Baltimore helped us so much.”

DECRIMINALIZATION OF CANNABIS

Dr. Ken Sends:

DECRIMINALIZATION OF CANNABIS

Quite possibly the most remarkable public statement I have seen from a
law enforcement official on the Cannabis issue was made on July 31st
by Manhattan District Attorney, Cyrus Vance. He stated, quote:
"Tomorrow, our Office will exit a system wherein smoking a joint can
ruin your job, your college application, or your immigration
status..., but our advocacy will continue. I urge New York lawmakers
to legalize and regulate marijuana once and for all.

The needless criminalization of pot smoking frustrates this core
mission, so we are removing ourselves from the equation. Our research
has found virtually no public safety rationale for the ongoing arrest
and prosecution of marijuana smoking, and no moral justification for
the intolerable racial disparities that underlie enforcement." End
of quote.

The prohibition of Cannabis was ill-conceived, discriminatory in its
enforcement, horrifically expensive and immeasurably more destructive
to our national culture than casual use could possibly have been. It
is way past the time when it should have been ended on a national
level.

It is appropriate to acknowledge all those who have advocated for
decriminalization during the most repressive times and to thank them
for their efforts and sacrifice. My position and sentiments have
always been aligned with theirs though my primary value as a Doctor of
Chiropractic would have been compromised by too public an advocacy.
This has been the position forced upon many other professional and
public figures and is a clear and continuous violation of all of our
First Amendment rights.

I have been, and will remain, a committed advocate for the completion
of this long process of Cannabis decriminalization on a federal level.
I also advocate the immediate release of all non-violent offenders and
a redirection of the funds now used for incarceration to a program of
reintegration into society.

While I oppose the criminalization of cannabis users, I also oppose
the open, commercial promotion of this, or any other substance, that
has the potential to disrupt routine and sober mental functions. I
support the right of anyone who might use cannabis for medical or
recreational purposes and I am confident that they will access
cannabis without the aid of advertising and promotion. The history of
alcohol and tobacco should guide us in that regard.

We have a lengthy list of challenges and priorities facing us as a
nation and promoting widespread use of any substance that would divert
our attentions from that purpose would be just as foolish and wasteful
of resources as persecuting users has been.

If you are unfamiliar with the origins and history of Marijuana
repression, it is your duty as a public official to familiarize
yourself with it in order that you are able to make a rational and
responsible decision in regard to future public policy. What you will
discover is an outrageous and embarrassing story of racism, bigotry
and unfair business practices that have been so blatant and audacious
as to render them unrecognizable for what they are.

I have compiled a brief list of resources for you to consult, if any
doubt remains as to what your proper action should and will be. They
are admittedly supportive of ending cannabis prohibition, but you
have, throughout your lives, been inundated with oppositional
materials that have promoted and perpetuated the current policy
agenda.

You will also be exposed to the ecological, medical, agricultural,
industrial and economic values of the non-psychoactive strain of
Cannabis known as "Industrial Hemp." In many ways, that story is more
compelling than the story of Marijuana, and has the potential to move
you toward decriminalization with greater urgency.

Thank you for your time, I pray that you will join me, and millions of
other responsible citizens and do your own part in ending this
national disgrace.

Mount Pleasant Police reopen investigation into stabbing

This is incredible.

In July, Mt. Pleasant police arrested a man for a 2017 stabbing at
Cham-Tap. It turns out they never looked at the bar's video footage
until it was shown to them on Monday by Racine County Eye.

The video recording shows the man who was charged, leaving the bar 5
minutes before the stabbing took place. The video also shows that the
man who was charged by MPPD looked nothing like the man who is
believed to have stabbed two people.

Apparently, when charges were brought a couple of weeks ago by Racine
County District Attorney Tricia Hanson, witnesses tried to contact
both the MPPD and the District Attorney's office to say they were
charging the wrong guy.

They were told by Mt. Pleasant their statements were not needed and
when they tried calling Hanson - the phone just kept ringing and
ringing with no voicemail.

How is it possible that neither the MPPD or the D.A. looked at the
video before Monday?

Mt. Pleasant police say they are now reopening the case and Hanson
will be back in her office tomorrow.

Why don't the police follow local law?

Possession of 25 grams or less of marijuana for personal use is already a minor offense in Racine, punishable by citation.  Instead, the police seek state charges against pot smokers.  This has been going on for 20 years.  Why do the police want to destroy families and ignore the will of the people in the city where they work?  C'mon Chief Art Howell, stop destroying the little guys and go after our corrupt local officials who cause a thousand times the problems that pot smokers do.  Why do our police hate our citizens?

Mysterious radio signal from space? Astronomers aren’t sure of origins

Is E.T. trying to phone Earth? A new radio telescope in Canada has picked up an elusive fast radio burst from deep space. Buzz60

Backgrounds Photos
(Photo: Getty Images/iStockphoto)

A mysterious radio signal has been spotted by a telescope in Canada, and it's one of the lowest in frequency to date.

Details of the signal were posted to The Astronomer's Telegram, a website where accredited astronomers can post observations.

An observation posted last week by Patrick Boyle from Canada's McGill University finds a radio telescope called the Canadian Hydrogen Mapping Intensity Experiment (CHIME) discovered a fast radio burst, which are short bursts of radio waves coming from beyond the Milky Way Galaxy.

The FRB was detected at frequencies as low as 580 megahertz, the lowest frequency detection to date.

Science Alert reports the detection has not been independently verified, noting the case of Australian researchers who discovered a radio signal in 1998 only to find out 17 years later it was from a microwave.

Meanwhile, another astronomer submitted an observation to the Telegram claiming he had discovered a very bright star. It was actually Mars.

Fast radio bursts were first discovered in 2007, but their origins are still unknown. Earlier this year, astronomers claimed they were close to determining the sources of these bursts. However, they could not rule out the possibility is a high-powered signal from an advanced alien civilization.

Chiraq

Dear City of Racine Alderpersons,

Straight outta Chiraq - no different than RACINE!

Black Chicagoans Blast “Con Man” Mayor (Cory Mason) OOPS! Emanuel Amid
Record Shooting Spree, Ask Trump For Help

77 people were shot last week in Chicago, 9 fatally, but the rate of
shootings has accelerated aggressively today as ‘HeyJackass‘ reports
“30 shot in 3 hours is the most shot in the least amount of time we’ve
recorded in 5+ years. The previous record was July 4-5, 2016 w/ 29
shot in 6 hours.”

“Rahm Emanuel is a con man. His whole job is to keep black folks
divided,” one man told Fox News’ Gianno Caldwell, who covered the
march.

One woman said Thursday that Emanuel “doesn’t care about anybody”
except his own neighborhood and his own family, while another woman
said Emanuel seems to care more about illegal immigrants in the city.

“African-Americans, we’re citizens, and our ancestors built this
country,” she told Caldwell, whose younger brother survived a shooting
last year that killed his best friend.

Rev. Ira Acree, one of the organizers of Thursday’s protest, said
residents are tired of the “tale of two cities,” where one area is
thriving and others are crippled by poverty and gang violence.

And finally, in the most shocking twist in today’s divided nation, it
is interesting to see Democratic leaders in Chicago calling for
President Trump to involve the National Guard.

State Rep. La Shawn Ford, a Democrat who represents the West Side of
Chicago, called on President Trump to help the city.

“Not everyone believes Chicago is a Trump-free zone. If he’s serious
about helping the people … I accept his help. We can’t turn any help
away,” said Ford, adding that seniors and children need to have safe
streets and federal authorities need to help the local police.

The (John) Dickert Disaster has only become worse - as the Mason
Dynamic Duo continue to destroy Racine. Time for Cory and Rebecca to
resign and go back to Brooklyn.

The Plaintiffs in THOMAS J. HOLMES, et al., v. JOHN DICKERT, et al.,
Case No. 14-CV-208 have responded to the Defendants Motion to Dismiss
and the next course of action rests with the Defendants, who have 14
days to respond. Should the Defendants choose not to respond in
writing, the Court may move to oral arguments, or make a decision on
the Motions. Almost forgotten, is that the Racine County Circuit
Court, in a decision upheld by the Wisconsin Court of Appeals,
already ruled that Thomas J. Holmes right to due process was violated
by The City of Racine, City of Racine Common Council, City of Racine
Public Safety and Licensing Committee and Kurt Whalen; in an unlawful
act that also deprived Thomas Holmes to the use of his private
property, business, and the ability to provide a living for his Family
and himself. See: State of Wisconsin Court of Appeals Case No.

Russia Appoints Steven Seagal to Roundhouse Kick Its Way Into U.S. Hearts

The Under Siege star has been asked to deepen cultural ties between the two countries.

Seagal photographed in 2014
By Clive Mason/Getty Images.
Actor, martial artist, and Vladimir Putin bromance partner Steven Seagal has a new honor from Russia. On Saturday, the country’s Foreign Ministry announced that Seagal has been appointed an official representative between Russia and the U.S., according to Reuters. His mission: to improve humanitarian relations between the two countries and deepen cultural ties.

In 2016, Putin gifted Seagal with a Russian passport, seemingly as an example of Putin’s good faith and will to improve ties between Washington and the Kremlin—or perhaps he was just really jazzed on any one of the six films IMDB credits to Seagal that year, including The Asian Connection. (Story by Tom Sizemore!) Since then, relations between the U.S. and Russia have hit a little bit of a slide, compounded by an investigation into Russian hackers employed by the Kremlin influenced the election of Donald Trump in 2016. Recently, Seagal has been accused multiple times of sexual assault, which he denies.

In a Facebook post, the Russian Foreign Ministry Facebook page explained that Seagal was clear that Seagall’s new gig is unpaid. “This is a socio-political position, not involving a monetary reward.” This is an instance, according to the Ministry, of “when people’s diplomacy meets traditional diplomacy.”

35 shot in Chicago since midnight, three dead; five multiple-victim shootings in 2.5-hour period; after sunrise, 4 more shot

From Chicago Tribune:

At least 37 people were shot in Chicago from 11 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018, through Sunday morning, three fatally. Many of those injured were treated at Stroger Hospital.
(Antonio Perez / Chicago Tribune)

By Hannah Leone, Morgan Greene and William LeeContact ReporterChicago Tribune

Four people were shot in the 1600 block of South Avers in Lawndale. Eight in the 1300 block of West 76th Street in Gresham. Six in Lawndale again. Four more in in West Humboldt Park. Three others in West Garfield Park.

At least 41 people were shot in Chicago from 11 a.m. Saturday through Sunday morning, four fatally. Three of those deaths happened since about midnight in a period when 35 people were shot. During one 2 1/2-hour period alone, 25 people were shot — two fatally — in 5 multiple-injury shootings, authorities said.

Another fatality happened after sunrise, when four more were shot in South Austin.

Resources at local hospitals were taxed as victims and their families poured in. Access to Stroger Hospital was tightened. Mount Sinai Hospital was on bypass.

Sixteen of those shot were teenagers. Twelve were 17 or younger.

Police planned to hold a news conference at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at police headquarters to discuss the violence that took place during the hot Chicago summer weekend.
