Who is the most hated person associated with the NFL?

It isn't the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown, though he came in second. It also isn't longtime New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick. (He came in third).

semi-scientific Twitter study found our very own Aaron Rodgers to be the most despised person in the NFL.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback has made national headlines on and off the field for the past year. In return, that generated a lot of buzz on Twitter.

According to BetOnline's staff who conducted the study, the conclusion was derived after more than a million tweets were analyzed by keyword association.

"Negative phrases such as "I hate Aaron Rodgers," "Antonio Brown sucks," "F**ck Roger Goodell," "Cam Newton is horrible," etc. were included in the study that spanned the month of December," Stuff Media Group said in a statement. " January and February were not included so the findings wouldn't be swayed by the playoff participants."

Rodgers had 266,850 negative tweets about him during the month of December. That is more than double the amount Brown had in second place. Brown had 107,379 negative tweets.

Aaron Rodgers is the Most Despised Person Associated with the NFL

Non-players also made the top 20, including Roger Goodell, Jackson Mahomes, Dan Snyder, Robert Kraft, and Brittany Matthews.

MILWAUKEE — Engaged couple Aaron Rodgers and Shailene Woodley are breaking up after almost two years together, according to reports from TMZ and originally reported by the website In Touch Weekly.

In Touch cited multiple unnamed sources. Rodgers and Woodley have not confirmed anything so far.

Actress Woodley and Packers quarterback Rodgers announced they were engaged in February of 2021 on the Tonight Show.

In November the couple made headlines when Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 and confirmed he was not vaccinated for COVID-19. Despite some heat towards Rodgers, Woodley defended him, writing on Instagram people "need to calm the f..k down."

In Touch reports a source told them, “While Shailene is supportive of Aaron’s career, he put football first and they were barely spending any time together... She felt he neglected their relationship. Neither of them was happy.”

A second source told the website, “There were too many obstacles. They’re both adults and decided to part amicably.”

This is breaking news and will be updated shortly.

NFL MVP: Packers' Aaron Rodgers wins 4th

From Fox6Now:

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was named the NFL's 2021 MVP at the NFL Honors Thursday night, Feb. 10.

Rodgers has now won the award in back-to-back seasons and four times overall – the second most by one player in NFL history behind only Peyton Manning, who has won the award five times.

In 2021, Rodgers started 16 of 17 possible games for the Packers as they finished with the NFL's top record and clinched the NFC's top playoff seed. In those 16 games, Rodgers threw for 4,115 yards and 37 touchdowns to just four interceptions.

Rodgers led the NFL in touchdowns per pass attempt, interceptions per pass attempt and passer rating – a metric in which he also led the league for two of his previous three MVP seasons.

In addition to being named the NFL's MVP, Rodgers was named first-team All-Pro for the fourth time in his career and made his 10th Pro Bowl – a record among Packers players

The MVP caps a year dotted with public controversy and tumult for Rodgers.

On April 29, 2021 – the opening night of the 2021 NFL draft – ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Rodgers had grown "disgruntled" with the Packers to the point that he would not return.

After much speculation of what would come next, Rodgers arrived in Green Bay for the start of training camp in July. The three-time MVP let it be known publicly that he wanted to have a voice in the decision-making process.

Rodgers became the center of a second media firestorm of the year when it became known that he had not received the COVID-19 vaccine, seeking alternative treatment options instead. His explanation for being "immunized," as he put it, instead of vaccinated against the coronavirus, drew flack. Though he defended his stance on not receiving the vaccine, he made comments that repeated debunked myths surrounding its use.

The Packers lost their lone playoff game to the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field, ending the season and starting the clock on another uncertain offseason for Rodgers.

After Rodgers' retirement, no comeback is envisioned by MVP QB

From Fox6Now:

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers says he can’t envision coming out of retirement once he ends his playing career.

Rodgers has said he hasn’t decided whether to return to the Packers, pursue a trade or retire. The three-time MVP went into more details about his future Tuesday on "The Pat McAfee Show" on YouTube and SiriusXM.

"One thing I would not do, 100% not do, is retire and then come back a year later," Rodgers said. "I don’t have any desire to do that. That makes no sense."

Rodgers earned All-Pro honors this season and played his way into contention for a fourth MVP award this season, though he struggled Saturday in a 13-10 NFC divisional playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

The 38-year-old Rodgers said after that game he would try to decide on his future before the free agency period begins in March. All-Pro receiver Davante Adams heads a long list of Packers with expiring contracts.

Rodgers updated that timeline Tuesday by referencing late February, when teams can start giving out franchise tags to potential free agents.

"I think that should be enough time to make a decision, by then," Rodgers said. "I don’t want to put myself on a specific date, but again, I do want to be sensitive to Davante and many other guys who have decisions to make on their own futures. To drag it out past free agency would be disrespectful to the organization and to those guys, and that 100% will not happen."

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that "we would love for (Rodgers) to be a Packer and be a Packer to the day he decides to retire." LaFleur said general manager Brian Gutekunst, executive vice president/director of football operations Russ Ball and president/CEO Mark Murphy share that opinion.

"We’re all on the same page there," LaFleur said. "There’s no debate."

Rodgers skipped the Packers’ offseason team activities and mandatory minicamp last year. He reported on time for training camp but said he wanted to have a voice in the team’s decision-making process, and believed the organization didn’t treat departing high-character veterans with enough respect.

Since then, Rodgers has praised Gutekunst on multiple occasions and said his relationship with the general manager has improved.

"There’s not going to be any weird standoff, war of silence or anything," Rodgers said. "Brian and I have had good conversations throughout the year. When it comes time to make a decision, we’ll have a conversation and that will be that. It won’t be a long, drawn-out process. I think that’s what’s best for me, for him, for the organization and for all the other decisions that need to be made."

GREEN BAY — Aaron Rodgers heads into another offseason of uncertainty after one more frustrating finish to a brilliant year.

Rodgers drove the Packers to a touchdown on the game’s opening possession but couldn’t get them back in the end zone the rest of the night as their season ended Saturday night with a stunning 13-10 NFC divisional playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Robbie Gould’s 45-yard field goal as time expired won the game for the 49ers.

Packers eliminated, 49ers advance to NFC title game

From Fox6Now:

Robbie Gould continued his playoff perfection and moved the San Francisco 49ers one step away from their second Super Bowl appearance in three seasons with a 45-yard field goal as time expired for a 13-10 upset of Green Bay on Saturday night.

On a field littered with snow flurries, Gould's kick knocked off the top-seeded Packers and possibly ended Aaron Rodgers' tenure in Green Bay. Gould has made all 20 of his career playoff field-goal attempts.

"I always trust Robbie. He’s as good as gold, man," Niners quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo said. "He always is."

The 49ers (12-7) continued their postseason hex on Rodgers and advanced to an NFC championship game matchup Jan. 30 at either the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (14-4) or Los Angeles Rams (13-5). Those teams play Sunday in Tampa.

San Francisco's win, coupled with the Cincinnati Bengals' 19-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans earlier in the day, marked the first time both No. 1 seeds lost in the divisional round in the same season since 2010. Green Bay won at Atlanta and the New York Jets won at New England that season.

"It’s dangerous, man. When a team gets hot, it’s dangerous," Garoppolo added. "So we’ve just got to keep this thing going, focus on next week now, and keep this thing rolling."

Rodgers went 19 of 25 for 221 yards and dropped to 0-4 in career playoff matchups against the 49ers. San Francisco beat the Packers 37-20 in the NFC championship game two seasons ago before losing 31-20 to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

The Packers (13-5) earned the NFC’s top seed for a second straight season but again failed to reach the big game as the 49ers rallied by scoring 10 unanswered points in the final five minutes.

San Francisco tied the game with 4:41 left thanks to a breakdown by Green Bay’s special teams, the Packers’ biggest weakness all season.

Jordan Willis’ outstretched left hand blocked a punt by Corey Bojorquez, who was kicking from the front of his end zone. Talanoa Hufanga picked up the ball at the 6-yard line and ran it in to make it 10-10.

After the Packers went three-and-out, the 49ers got the ball back at their 29 with 3:20 left and drove into field-goal range. Deebo Samuel delivered a 9-yard run on third-and-8 from the Green Bay 38, and the 49ers ran down the clock to set up Gould.

A.J. Dillon’s 6-yard touchdown run capped a 69-yard drive on the game’s opening possession that put the Packers ahead 7-0. Green Bay’s offense didn’t do much of anything after that.

Green Bay's special teams fared even worse.

Well before that blocked punt, San Francisco's Jimmie Ward blocked a 39-yard field-goal attempt from Mason Crosby on the final play of the first half, preventing the Packers from extending their lead to 10-0. The Packers also allowed Samuel to return the second-half kickoff 45 yards, setting up the 49ers' first field goal.

San Francisco won by overcoming a brutal start from its offense. The 49ers had minus-10 yards in their first four series, three of which included third-down sacks. It was the first time the 49ers had opened a game with four straight three-and-outs since a 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 27, 2009.

San Francisco didn’t get a single first down or pass completion until Garoppolo connected with George Kittle on a 15-yard gain with less than 6 ½ minutes left in the second quarter. Garoppolo was just 9 of 17 for 105 yards with an interception, but the 49ers still managed to win.

"It took everything," Garoppolo said. "We knew it was going to. I mean, it was just offense, defense, special teams - everybody stepping up and doing their part. Wouldn’t have it any other way."

Tundra

The temperature at kickoff was 14 degrees with a wind chill of zero, making it the fifth-coldest playoff game in Lambeau Field history. The second half was played amid snow flurries.

Injuries

The Packers were without OT David Bakhtiari, a 2020 All-Pro selection. Bakhtiari played 27 snaps in the Packers’ regular-season finale, which marked his first game since tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament on Dec. 31, 2000.

Billy Turner, playing for the first time since suffering his own knee injury on Dec. 12, started in Bakhtiari’s place.

49ers running back Jeff Wilson left with an ankle injury after the opening kickoff. Packers safety Darnell Savage (back) and running back A.J. Dillon (chest) left in the third quarter.

Next up

The 49ers will be at either Tampa or the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC championship game on Jan. 30.

The Packers' season is over. Will Rodgers be back with the Pack?

Green Bay Packers give regulars plenty of rest, fall to Detroit Lions 37-30 in playoff tuneup

DETROIT – In a game with two teams having opposite seasons, the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions entered Sunday’s regular-season finale with opposite approaches.

For the Packers, Week 18 felt like a glorified exhibition. A week after clinching the NFC’s top seed, the Packers pulled Aaron Rodgers and many other key starters before halftime. They no doubt heavily scaled back their scheme, intent on not showing any usable film to whoever their NFC divisional round playoff opponent is in two weeks.

Meanwhile, the Lions treated Sunday much like their own Super Bowl, pulling out the full bag of tricks including two reverse passes that went for touchdowns and a fake punt.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Aaron Rodgers says he won’t drag out any offseason decisions regarding his future with the Green Bay Packers and hasn’t ruled out retirement.

The 38-year-old quarterback said he would try to make a decision shortly after talking to his loved ones as well as team officials such as CEO/President Mark Murphy, general manager Brian Gutekunst and executive vice president/director of football operations Russ Ball.

Rodgers skipped the Packers’ organized team activities and mandatory minicamp in a standoff with team management during the most recent offseason before finally reporting to training camp.

Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers complains of NFL's 'two-class system' for players unvaccinated for COVID-19

From JSOnline:

Fifty-three days after a defiant Aaron Rodgers drew a firestorm over his comments on "The Pat McAfee Show" related to his decision not to be vaccinated for COVID-19, the Green Bay Packers quarterback went there again Tuesday.

And he didn't hold back.

For more than 12 minutes during his 50-plus minute appearance on McAfee’s show, Rodgers, who previously gave a misleading answer when asked about being vaccinated during a news conference in August, sounded off on the NFL's protocols, saying the league has created a "two-class system" of the vaccinated vs. the unvaccinated, referenced a doctor who has spread misinformation about the pandemic and called science "propaganda" if it can't be questioned.

McAfee got Rodgers started on COVID-19 when he asked for his thoughts on whether the NFL will change their protocols based on the recent updated guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that has lowered the number of days those infected with COVID-19 should isolate.

NFL shortens quarantine period for asymptomatic players

On Tuesday, the NFL and NFL Players Association followed suit, agreeing to shorten the amount of time that team personnel who have tested positive must quarantine to five days, if they don't show symptoms. This includes for unvaccinated players, though there remains a more strict protocol for them, including the frequency of testing and limitations on their activity.

The changes come as hundreds of NFL players have gone on the COVID-19 list this month, resulting in games being postponed due to outbreaks across teams. The Packers' COVID-19 list continues to grow as well in recent days.

Rodgers said he doesn't "have that fear" around COVID-19 because he remains in a 90-day window where he doesn't have to test for the virus because of his positive test in early November, per NFL protocols. He's in that window until a few days after the NFC championship game.

"What I don't understand, though, it makes no sense to me to continue to spread this narrative that nonvaccinated players are more dangerous or these superspreaders, which hasn't been proven to be true," Rodgers said. "I don't understand this two-class system that exists in our league."

Rodgers said the science "is changing all the time."

"It doesn't back it up," said Rodgers, who Tuesday revealed he tested positive for the delta variant of COVID-19. "There's not many unvaccinated guys left in the league but it's obviously not a pandemic of the unvaxxed. ... It doesn't make sense to me we're still punishing nonvaccinated."

Packers fans celebrate Rodgers' record-setting Christmas game

From Fox6Now:

The Green Bay Packers' win was another Christmas gift for fans Saturday, as was Aaron Rodgers' record-breaking performance.

Kelly's Bleachers is open 365 days a year, including what turned out to be an exciting Christmas Day for sports fans in Milwaukee.

"I mean, we had the Bucks game on, the Packers game on, everyone was cheering. It was great to see. Milwaukee loves its sports," Packers fan Derek Hoppe said.

The first Packers touchdown of the day was not just any six points; it was Rodgers' 443rd touchdown pass – breaking Brett Favre's record for passing scores in a Green Bay uniform.

"It was pretty amazing. I had no idea that it was going to happen today, and it was pretty cool. He seemed pretty excited on the screen," said Packers fan Julie Tric.

Sports fans watch the Packers and Bucks at Kelly's Bleachers on Christmas Day

"On Christmas? Hey, that’s pretty cool, too," Packers fan John Seidl said. "A little present for himself and for all the fans here."

Roughly 10 minutes after Rodgers made history, the Bucks secured a come-from-behind win over the Boston Celtics.

All the cheering was a welcome sound for business owners who almost didn't make it to Christmas this year.

"After last year with COVID, it was a very difficult year. We almost went under," said Patrick Guenther, co-owner of Kelly's Bleachers. "We came back strong with the Brewers season, obviously sports is a big part of our business."

After Rodgers broke the record, Favre came on the video board with a message congratulating him – and telling Rodgers to go get another Super Bowl.
