‘It’s not funny to me’: Baker says she was fired after marijuana cake mix-up goes viral

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia — The Georgia woman who made a marijuana-themed cake instead of a “Moana” cake says she is out of a job after the mix-up went viral.

Cassandra Walker told USA Today she made the cake after her manager, who she says misheard the order, told her it was OK.

Walker said she fired from Dairy Queen on Monday, which was her birthday.

“It’s not funny to me,” Walker said in a phone interview with USA Today. “This is back-to-school time. I have two little girls here. I have a car that needs fixing. It’s not funny to me.”

Neilston girl Lucie's first day at school goes viral

HILARIOUS photographs of an East Renfrewshire girl before and after her first day at school have gone viral.

Neilston mum Jillian Falconer shared the snaps of her five-year-old daughter Lucie with the Barrhead News yesterday.

One of the photos shows the Neilston Primary pupil looking pristine in her school uniform, with a neat hairstyle and a big smile on her face as she looks forward to her first day in the classroom.

However, side-by-side with that snap is a photo of Lucie returning home from school...with her tie and socks skew-whiff, her hair in a mess and sporting a serious frown.

Bice: Winners and losers from the DNC's hotel assignments for Democratic convention

From JSOnline:

Loser: Racine-Kenosha

While cities and towns in the Milwaukee and Chicago suburbs are housing thousands of delegates in their hotels, Racine and Kenosha were shut out completely. Also overlooked were Sheboygan and Madison, one of the state's two liberal hubs.

Jimmy Kimmel Pranks Aunt Chippy By Painting Her House

Whey Chai closes Downtown; Durand Avenue location China House still open

From The Journal Times.com:

RACINE — Whey Chai Chinese Food, which has spent decades in Downtown Racine, has closed its doors.

Owner Wang Fugang, aka Franky Wang, also owns China House at 4003 Durand Ave., which remains open. The Journal Times attempted to reach Wang multiple times but was unsuccessful. One China House employee stated the Whey Chai closure was due to a staffing shortage.

The earliest Journal Times report about Whey Chai in the paper’s online archive is a restaurant review from 1978 of the original restaurant in Zion, Ill. The article tells the story of original owner Liu Whey Chai, who came to the United States from Taiwan and was drawn to Zion because of his religious faith.

Then, in 1982, came the announcement that Liu was remodeling a former shoe store at 400 Main St. in Racine and opening his second Whey Chai restaurant. The 85-seat restaurant was run by Liu while his wife continued to run the Zion location.

By the time of Liu’s retirement in 1992, they had established another restaurant in downtown Kenosha. Liu decided to sell the Kenosha and Racine restaurants to a couple from Chicago’s Chinatown out of concern for his wife’s health and because he felt he too needed to slow down.

Mayo Clinic Q&A: Cat scratches, bites can lead to infection

From The Journal Times.com:

DEAR MAYO CLINIC: My cat scratched me while I was trimming his claws, and the wound later became infected. Are cat scratches a special concern?

ANSWER: A bite or scratch from a cat carries particular risks, and infection is common. Cat scratch disease (or cat scratch fever) is a specific type of bacterial infection that occurs when a cat bites or scratches hard enough to break the skin's surface or licks an open wound. It's estimated that 40 percent of cats carry this particular bacterium, usually after an exposure to fleas or another animal that was exposed. However, most cats with the infection show no signs of illness.

Symptoms of cat scratch disease appear within two weeks after the contact with an infected animal. Swelling and redness occur around the wound, and you also may experience a fever, headache, poor appetite and fatigue.

I've been bit and scratched by cats hundreds of times.  I never go an infection.

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my sweets!  How are you?  I'm getting back into my routine after my adventures on Mora.  What a nightmare!   Señor Zanza and Junior were frantic when they realized that I was gone and they had no idea where.  They filed a missing person report and contacted all of my friends.  I had just disappeared.  They were very happy upon my return.

I've heard nothing from the Morans since I placed the Zoltar Curse on them.  That should keep them busy for awhile.  They'll be rebuilding their world for decades.  Ha-ha!  Who's on top now?  Don't mess with Mother Zoltar!  Did I tell you that their chlorophyll is purple?  Their grass and shrubs and most trees are varying shades of purple.  It's quite disturbing, though I don't know why.  You'd think that after a month I would get used to it.  But I never did. . .

So, what's been going on in my absence?  More crime committed and people dying because of criminal actions.  The same old same old.  Racine, where did you go wrong?  I think it was the reign of our two criminal mayors, Becker and Dickert.  They gutted this city.  Today it looks like Foxconn may "save" Racine and surrounding communities, but I doubt it.  All these epic plans are made to turn old Racine manufacturing buildings into apartments and condos for the expected influx of Foxconn workers, but few have bought anything yet.  The Ajax project and the YMCA project are both stalled.  Same for @NorthBeach,  Probably the same for a few others.  People aren't going to invest their money until they're sure that there is or will be a market here.  Talk is one thing; money is another.

Will Foxconn "save" us?  Does the Pope poop in the woods?  No, of course not.  Foxconn is going up much more slowly than most people anticipated.  It will be years before it's effect is felt here. if ever.  Being next to the Interstate, workers can commute in from as far away as Milwaukee and Chicago.  While some of Racine's "suburbs" have become bedroom communities, Racine itself will never be one.  The city is too coarse and demanding.  No one wants to live here.  They do it because they have to.  Foxconn workers are likely to look elsewhere for lodging.  Perhaps in housing recently built near the site.  That would make more sense.

It will be awhile, if ever, before Racine's housing stock is fully occupied.  Till then, all bets are off.  I can tell you your fortune, but its much more difficult with a city.  There's 70,000 fortunes out there.  How they do or don't act in unison as a city is hard to predict.

Much easier to predict is my love for you, my readers.  You are the heart and soul of this blog.  I'm so grateful to have you.  Believe in me and I'll believe in you.

I'm going to take off now.  I still have a lot of neglected clients to visit.  I love you all.  Don't forget to treat each other with kindness and respect.  God is love.  Let's spread Him around.

Racine County deputies ticket more than 80 speeders in I-94 construction zone

From JSOnline:

Just how fast are some people driving through the I-94 construction zone in Racine County? Over 100 miles per hour in a couple of cases, the Racine County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

From Friday through Sunday, deputies ticketed more than 80 people for driving faster than 80 mph through the 60 mph work zone, according to a news release from the Racine County Sheriff's Office.

The office deployed extra squads along Interstate 94 in an effort to increase safety through the construction zone, the news release said.

Deputies caught 77 people driving between 80 and 89 mph, two driving between 95 and 99 mph and two driving more than 100 mph, the release said.

The construction zone has been the site of numerous accidents this summer, including a fiery semi crash June 19 that killed two people and injured three others, closing the interstate for the day and most of the night.

'The Most Comprehensive Marijuana Reform Bill Ever' Introduced in Congress

A new bipartisan bill to remove cannabis from the schedule of controlled substances has just been introduced in the U.S. Congress. The Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment and Expungement Act (the MORE Act) of 2019 aims to decriminalize “cannabis, to provide for reinvestment in certain persons adversely impacted by the War on Drugs, to provide for expungement of certain cannabis offenses and for other purposes.
The MORE Act plans to entirely remove marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act, effectively decriminalizing it federally and allowing the states to set their own policies. It is a no-nonsense bill that does not allow exceptions, as it plans to delete any mention of marijuana from every list of federally prohibited drugs. This would allow the cannabis industry in legal states to operate more safely without risk of federal interference, to access banking and to be treated normally in regard to taxes. “The MORE Act is the most comprehensive marijuana reform bill ever introduced in Congress,” according to NORML, the leading advocacy group for marijuana reform.

The bill in the U.S. House of Representatives (H.R. 3884) is sponsored by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) and co-sponsored by 32 representatives, including familiar names of the effort for cannabis reform like Earl Blumenauer, but it is also supported by a Republican, Matt Gaetz. In the U.S. Senate, the bill (S. 2227) is carried by presidential candidate Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), with the support of rivals in the presidential race Sens. Cory Booker and Elizabeth Warren.

This bill distinguishes itself from other initiatives, such as the recent Marijuana Justice Act, which also aimed to amend the Controlled Substances Act, by adding social justice provisions. For instance, the MORE Act includes the creation of an “Opportunity Trust Fund,” filled with the net revenues from taxes on imported smoking products like tobacco, cigarette papers and tubes. That fund would then be used to help undo the damage of the War on Drugs.

More specifically, the House and Senate bills call for the creation of a Cannabis Justice Office and a grant program to offer job training, legal assistance, literacy programs, health and recreation programs to individuals and communities most impacted by the War on Drugs. It says that no person shall be denied federal benefits on the basis of past or future cannabis-related offenses. But most importantly, the bill wants to automatically expunge certain cannabis offenses, such as that of juvenile delinquency.

It keeps getting worse

No wonder Epstein and his friends were trying to keep the records sealed:

Jeffrey Epstein once had three 12-year-old girls flown in from France for him to abuse as a sadistic birthday present, unsealed court documents have alleged.
The fresh allegations were made by Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claims she was recruited to be a 'sex slave' by the millionaire financier and his girlfriend Ghislane Maxwell when she was 15 in 1999.

Giuffre made the allegations in a civil suit filed by the Miami US attorney's office in 2015.
Remember, this is the sort of thing that the US government authorities have been trying to keep under wraps. But a lot more of this sort of thing will be coming out soon.

UPDATE: The net is closing in on one of Epstein's friends:
Pressure was mounting on Prince Andrew last night to answer questions about his paedophile friend Jeffrey Epstein.
Young victims of Epstein begged the Duke of York to help them get justice as the prince was offered the opportunity to give sworn testimony on 'everything he knows'. After the duke declared himself 'appalled' at reports of the US financier's sex abuse of teenage girls, he was offered the chance to stand by his word and help their cases.

Lawyers said they looked forward to sitting down with Prince Andrew 'as soon as possible', suggesting that he go on the record about Epstein, whom he once reportedly vowed to 'be loyal' to.

Today it can be revealed that flight logs, obtained by the Daily Mail, show that one of Epstein's victims, 'sex-slave' Virginia Roberts, was flown to London, New York and the Caribbean in 2001. She has claimed that as a 17-year-old she met the duke in all three places and, in each case, research by the Mail suggests the duke was in the same vicinity at the same time.
