Kim Plache - Is It Right?

http://news.racinepost.com/2009/04/plache-will-serve-on-racine-unified.html

http://www.journaltimes.com/articles/2009/04/09/local_news/doc49dd34157bcfe188488045.txt

She decided to run for mayor of Racine after she had already declared for the RUSD race. She publicly announced her intention to withdraw from the RUSD race, but it was too late to remove her name from the ballot.

So she lost the mayoral primary, but won one of the three Unified seats up for election. Now she says she will serve on the school board.

Should she?

I don't think you should go back on your word, but I'm not a politician.

Party on!

And a person is only as good as their word...I agree with you,Orbs!

I think you are looking for fair and reasoning in an area you will never find it.

Kim has a somewhat good head on her shoulders. It is my understanding that if she didn't take the school board postion, the board would have the option to choose someone for that seat or call for another vote. I for one don't want to leave any additional open choices up to them... at least from what I've seen, geech.

I don't know the laws in Racine and Wisconsin, but several states let your name be on two ballots at once. In 2000, Lieberman ran for VP with Gore and reelection to the Senate to name a high profile example. I guess the difference here is Lieberman was upfront about his intentions to stay in the Senate if he was not VP.

While I wouldn't want the school board to fill that seat on it's own, and I used to respect her, she has fallen from my graces. From the looks of her bouncing around, it is obvious she is just a political whore and was in need of a job, any job to help ends meet.

Because of her need for a "job" and the way she went about getting it, she won't ever get my vote again. I will give 5-1 odds she don't stay the entire term but is out shopping around for a higher paid position immediately.

She has lost my respect and any future votes. I have backed her every time she has ran and I could vote, but no more.

CERTAINLY.

The voters decided, that's what is importent!

SER said...

She wants to be a “ladder climber” and to me she does not care how she gets there. I never liked her before and would never vote for her in the future.

I would not trust her as far as I could throw her!

Beejay said...

Anon: oh dear...the voters decided on who was listed on the ballot. She had said she had withdrawn. How can she withdraw and still accept the position?

And, please tell me that was a typo...'importent' is spelled 'important.' Hope you are not one of our educators!

I think ANON is Kim. She is like some sticky dog shit stuck in the crevices of you shoe. Just can't get rid of it.

Beejay said...

If she can't spell 'important,' then (notice the word is th'e'n) she doesn't belong in this position at all. Oh, am I bitchy today or what. Must have been SER with the Barbie thing......

If you don't want to be censored, but you feel free to criticize others spelling and don't respect the voting process, then I hope you won't be offended if I find you to be hippo-crits.

Beejay said...

Hypocrites.....unless you were trying to call me something else!

The problem with your argument is that Ms. Plache said she was going to withdraw from the race for that seat. By not following through on what she said she was going to do, she became a 'deceiver.' By the way, that is a synonym
for hypocrite!

Oh if you want to censor me, go ahead. Right now, all you are doing is censuring me. (I do realize that anonymous cannot censor me here, but I'm having fun!)

Oh, I am not nice today, guys...but this is making me feel so much better. Aaaaah.

Anonymous said...

So what? She listened to the voters, isn't that what we want elected officials to do?

Huck Finn said...

Anon, we can say words like "fuck" here with impunity, I doubt we will see censoring over expressed personal viewpoints. I'm a bleeding heart liberal and find Kim's new position distasteful. If she was serious, honest, and had integrity, she would not take the position she will abandon in less than two years when something better comes along.

Running for two positions in an attempt to find a paycheck isn't doing any of her constituents good. She isn't serving us, she is serving herself.

Anonymous said...

My point is you have replaced censoring with personal attacks for opinions you don't agree with, making at least Beejay a hypocrite!

Beejay said...

Ah hah, the spelling lessons are working! Hurray.

Anon...I think you missed the entire point. She said she was withdrawing. Once she made that statement, regardless of her name being on the ballot, she should have declined the position.

Her integrity is in question here. Her's not mine.

My initial statement (second one on this page) state my beliefs. A person is only as good as his (or her) word. That is my mantra and I live by it.

kk, I think you probably stated it best. We are talking about politicians here; why should we expect integrity from them?

Anon, no one is attacking you. Your spelling may not be your strong point, but you are entitled to your opinion, as am I.

SER said...

All right kids, ya'll need to calm the fuck down....ha ha just kidding!

Beejay said...

Calm down, you want me to calm down...SER, outside right now...got it...right now...we fight to the death. kk, you are my second...and SER, who is your second??? Orbs, you up to the task???

Huck Finn said...

Cage match! I'll bring the popcorn

Beejay said...

SER, I'm here; where are you??? Buster??????

Beejay said...

Huck, thank you for your support...SER...I've got my gloves on! White, of course...with a little tiny bit of blue piping...

It's invigorating to have a little blood in the water. We should argue more often.

Things like Plache's election just prove to me that Racine exists in some sort of strange tangent. I think maybe the city is located where a number of dimensions intersect each other, or maybe some sort of Bizarro force field is at work.

Beejay said...

Definitely made my day much better, Orbs. I do like an active discussion from time to time. BTW, SER seems to be missing in action....cluck, cluck, cluck. Oh I love a good spitting match from time to time...yeah, I know what you guys call it...just can't say that in public. Okay, I'll say it 'peeing.' Eeeeeeek.

SER said...

So Beejay...you want a piece of me!

Beejay said...

Okay, you made me smile.

OrbsCorbs said...

Everyone wants a piece of SER because he's a big lovable guy. It's like a piece of cake.

kkdither said...

I'll second the big lovable guy comment, orbs...

Don't miss the big picture folks... First, I must qualify myself...I didn't vote for her. Kim may be serving herself, however, she just may have the most brains of anyone on that current board. I would 10 times rather see her take that seat (yes, I do find it a bit distasteful) than have the board appoint another freaking idiot patsy to the seat. Yes, beejay, I said it... I will say pissing match too if necessary.

Anon... sorry you felt attacked. You have every right to post your opinion here too. I appreciate seeing new opinions. Anyone can have a spelling or grammar error, us included.

Beejay, take your nice pills and say you're sorry, or out to the woodshed with ya! ;)

Beejay said...

Nope...I'm not sorry. I asked if it were a typo and I was attacked ... calling me a hippo...well, I never Yeah, probably got carried away with my language arts agenda.

I'm meet you in the woodshed. And, by the way, I even spent my early years in a house that had a woodshed, and attached to that was the outhouse. Subtle aren't I?

Beejay said...

Where the hell is this stubborn side of me coming from? Oh yeah, Danish and German...aaaah, the benefits of it all.

Beejay said...

Oops, that should have read 'the benefit of it all!' Tsk, tsk.
