Best of Racine 2014 - Formal dining

Special occasion,  monumental birthday,
impressive anniversary, big date, whatever the reason,
once in a while, we have a need to go out special.
Somewhere you don't have to rush, somewhere nice,
we even clean up a bit and get all prettied up.
Where do you go when you want to do something really nice?

Vote now!

Does FINE dining even exist In Racine? I have never considered the Corner House FINE dining.

Got to go where LM runs the show.
Fine dining at it's best.
If they have an indoor play center, even better.

The Hob Nob.

The best food comes casually at Oh Dennis. No schmancy attire required, no snobby hostesses, no cloth napkins, just amazing ribs, perfectly baked potatoes, a cold, crisp salad, and a frosty beer.

I went to the Hob Nob once when I was married. Spent $80 on a meal for two.(Never going back there again) A co-worker went there a year with his wife and spent $200! (DEFINITELY not going back there again) The prices there are WAY too outrageous! I've been to the Docks and the Corner House.

If Tender Heart and I go out to eat, we are content to go to Applebee's, TGIF's or something like that.

I know, not much in town for 'fine dining', just thought I should hit the category for kicks.
The Summit is good, tho pricy. I went to the Corner House once, I liked it, hubby wasn't impressed.
Oh Dennis is AWESOME!!! I took my mom there last year and it was so good!
If we go out 'nice', we usually end up at Olive Garden or Applebees, both really good as well. The Fireside in Kenosha has really good food and awesome prime rib.

Drew is right with Applebee's and TGIF's. TGIF's has such awesome steaks there.

I've been to The Corner House many times. They used to be the go-to fine dining place. They've really gone downhill. They need to remodel, clean up their attitude and look at their pricing.

Haven't been to the Hob Nob (Snob Nob) in a long time. Had a bad enough experience there on my last visit and won't go back.

Oagie Thompson's in Kenosha was a great steak place. They closed more than several years ago. Had the best french onion soup you could find!

Times have changed. Not too many people really "dress" for dinner, anymore.

KK, OOH, I love Onion Soup. I would also agree Oh Dennis Is really good. Was only there once before we left town, but It was really good.

The Corner House, Is WAY too pricey for Prime Rib. I personally think anyone that will pay nearly $30.00 for a TINY slice Is crazy. Back In the early 90s, The Driftwood had Prime Rib, that would knock your socks off. They had a Gorilla Cut that weighed about 3 pounds. It was crazy good.

I went to the Hob Nob several years ago, when my grandparents were still living and could get out once in a while, if they had help.

My ex, who was the best dressed there, in the whole restaurant, had a bandana on his head, and it was not absurd or anything... It matched what he was wearing. They demanded he take his "hat" off. Fine.

But then, as we were getting seated, the table was short one chair, and the hostess, with a quiet voice, standing behind my grandma, "excuse me, ma'am"? And so I let her know, she's hard of hearing, so not only does she need to speak up for her to hear, she should tap my grandma on her shoulder. Instead, the hostess just shoved the chair past her, practically knocking her over. I was pretty mad. My grandma was about 90, at the time.

Not only will I refuse to go there for the rest of my life, I will be telling everyone I know to never to go to the Hob Nob, because they're disrespectful to our elderly.

I will have to try Oh, Dennis! Has anyone been to Sebastian's? I've heard they have good stuff there.
