US Media Silent on Swine Flu Vaccine Side Effects

In England, they're a little more concerned about the vaccine than we are:

I used to work with nurses that gave hundreds of employees the regular yearly flu shot, free of charge, from our employer. I took the vaccine one year, then learned none of those nurses took it themselves. That was enough information for me.

I haven't totally read up on all of it yet, but I may forgo a Swine flu vaccine because age appears to grant some immunity. Perhaps previous vaccines covered it.

From the Daily Mail story:

"It refers to the use of a similar swine flu vaccine in the United States in 1976 when:

* More people died from the vaccination than from swine flu.
* 500 cases of GBS were detected.
* The vaccine may have increased the risk of contracting GBS by eight times.
* The vaccine was withdrawn after just ten weeks when the link with GBS became clear.
* The US Government was forced to pay out millions of dollars to those affected."

I'll be taking it. Every vaccine out there has naysayers. All can cause some harm but if you look at statistics they do more good than harm.

I'm just going to ask my doc about it and go with whatever he recommends. I normally get the flu shot every year. Had the pneumonia shot once.
