Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my busy bees!  How are you?  I think last winter broke the thermostat of weather control central.  It’s June and some trees are just beginning to bud out.  It’s still cool at night, which is OK with me. I sleep better in a cool room.  With a hot man.  Oh my.

Public Service Announcement:  Lock your doors, windows, cars and garages.  Hide in your bomb shelter.  If you don’t have one, get under your bed and pray that the robbers won’t get you.  It really has gotten out of hand.  Theft, by burglary or robbery, has risen dramatically in Racine.  Now murder has been added to the mix.  People are tense.  And some establishments are locking and unlocking their doors only for known customers.  It’s like the city is locking down.

Señor Zanza says that his business has not done well lately.  I still don’t even know what business he’s in.  He seems to have a lot of money and he likes to share it with others.  That’s nice.  I don’t think he’s let me pay the bill at any restaurant ever.  My mysterious Mr. Señor Zanza.

Junior, of course, can’t wait for summer vacation to start.  He becomes more and more restless with each passing day.  I think he might explode before or on the last day of school.  I’ve tried teaching him relaxation strategies, but I don’t think his heart rate will slow down before summer vacation.  I’ll advise him then to get a summer job.  Unfortunately, in this economy, he doesn’t have much chance.  He’ll be competing with college graduates for menial work.  But I want him to have real world experiences even if it’s just looking for a summer job.  He must make getting a job a job.

I’ve never seen such a scarcity of jobs in Racine.  You have to know someone already working somewhere to get in.  A lot of people are doubling up with others to save money.  Every penny counts.  The recession is supposedly long over, but you don’t see much evidence locally.

Mr. Mayor Dickert is all over the Journal Times’ site today.  He and some other very important people had a little tent set up and importantly informed us that they’re going to develop along the Root River as their next scheme.  This will benefit us greatly and essentially save Racine.  Mr. Mayor’s 10 Year Plan is working.

Thank you all for stopping by today.  I love you all so much that I want to hug each one of you.  Maybe at the next get-together?  Thank you, again, for reading my blog.

Can’t find a job?  Contact: madamezoltar@jtirregulars.com

The weather is supposed to keep us drenched all day.  The rest of the week looks good.  Get out there and show them some JTI swagger!  Ventoseness!

Crime is on the rise in Racine and unfortunately the police can’t stop it they can only respond to it.

I have a nasty feeling there are going to be more guns on the street in the not too near future. I believe the citizens are going to start arming themselves.

I don’t know if this is going to be good or bad, I guess it depends on if you’re looking down the barrel of one and who is holding it, the bad guy or the good guy defending him or herself and HOPE TO HELL the good guy/person is properly trained.

Not too long ago I went to buy some 9mm bullets. The first thing the sales person asked me was, “Do you want self-defense bullets”? They are pure hell, they explode when you get hit by one, it really f**k you up. And they’re twice the cost of a full metal jacket bullet.

My preference is a sawed off shotgun. Legal length of a sawed off is the barrel has to be no less than 18 inches and an overall length of 26. So you can saw the stock off quite a bit. A 6 shot pump will work well.\

So if you are going to carry a concealed weapon, PLEASE make sure you know how to handle it and when to use it. AND please make sure you can keep a ‘cool head’ if something is to happen.

I currently have a job as a home care aide. I also recently graduated with my Health Unit Coordinator, which also requires that I be a CNA first, before completing the HUC studies. Because I'm not getting any younger, I've been applying at multiple places for a HUC/CNA, as well as straight HUC positions.

Fortunately, I am getting a lot of interviews. Unfortunately, I am being turned down for many of them, because either I was already interviewing, or that I don't have enough education, or that I don't have the experience... Some are suggesting I start as a CNA, which would be fine, but, I cannot do 12 hour shifts as an aide... I'd rather work four 8 hour days and a 4 hour day for the same amount of hours.

It's nuts that with 11 years loyalty to one company, that I cannot get hired elsewhere. Unfortunately, because home care is home care, it doesn't matter how many hours I take, it will never be considered full time, because the hours are not guaranteed. A patient could go to the nursing home, assisted living, or hospital, and there go the hours... Considering I am head of household for a family of 3, it's important that I have a 3/4 or better job. Because I'm diabetic, I need regular hours to keep my blood sugars level, neither of which I can get at a home care agency, unless I'm willing to accept a schedule where I start some days at 7am, and not finish until 11pm, with lots of breaks in between to where I can't do any projects around my house or anything.

I am hoping that with the ACA going into effect, and that the fact that Aurora is expanding, I will be able to find a suitable job soon. I also think that with more and more people working, the crime rate will go down, because now they will be busy at their jobs and such.
