KENOSHA — A night of looting, violence and fires took place in Kenosha into the early hours of Monday morning after Kenosha police shot a Black man, who has been publicly identified as Jacob Blake.
A Kensosha County curfew was put into effect until 7 a.m. late Sunday night and Kenosha Police issued an alert around 2 a.m. saying, "24-hour businesses please consider closing due to numerous arm robberies and shots fired calls."
At least one dump truck was lit on fire that had been placed to try to divert protesters.
As of late Sunday evening, Blake was in serious condition at a Milwaukee area hospital.
The shooting was caught on video and has been widely shared on social media.
The involved officers have been placed on administrative leave, the Wisconsin Department of Justice stated in a news release early Monday morning.
