"Drinker wakes up in a morgue after being declared DEAD when he passed out downing vodka in Russia... and heads straight back to the party"

By Jennifer Newton for MailOnline

"A drinker who was declared dead after downing too much vodka in Russia woke up and found himself in a morgue.

"And rather than go home to sleep off the after effects of the alcohol, the man went straight back out to re-join his friends.

"The man had been at a party in the Khansanky region in Russia's far east, drinking vodka.

"After over indulging on the spirit, he passed out and when paramedics arrived they pronounced him dead and arranged for him to be taken to a local morgue.

"He was placed in the mortuary freezer as the facility was filled to capacity with dead bodies.

"But soon after, the man started to come round and was taken aback to find himself in new surroundings.

"According to local media reports, he pounded on the freezer door and pleaded for help before a security guard reported hearing noises to doctors.

"When they opened the door, they found the panicked man who ran from the room before he was questioned by police and then released.

"Aleksey Stoyev, a police spokesman told Russian newspaper Khasanskiye Vesti: 'That night the local morgue was filled to its capacity, the bodies were not only on the shelves, but also on the floor of the freezer room, where our 'dead' man was allocated."

Well, that explains it.  I'm 1/4 Russian.  My mother's father was a Cossack.  They can drink for days.

Strange Dog

"Published on Jan 23, 2015

"The USA has, by far, the highest per capita gun ownership in the world. Progressives will tell you that this is what makes America the Murder Capitol of Planet Earth. But we're not, and in this devastatingly effective Firewall, Bill Whittle shows why the center of Gun Nut Nation is in fact one of the safest places in the world."

"Book Collaboration Spurs On Racine Arts Council Efforts"

From Racine County Eye:

By Denise Lockwood in Community, Arts · December 30, 2015 · No comments

"When Nick Ramsey became Racine’s poet laureate, part of his duties included putting together a book titled Transformation: Art & Poetry. The project featured 12 poets and artists, and the proceeds from the book will go towards the Racine Arts Council.

"The book features 24 poems and 24 pieces of artwork, including metal sculptures, blown glass, jewelry, photography, paintings, mixed media and print work.

"Robert Osborne and his wife Vera Scekic funded the project through the Osborne-Scekic Family Foundation because they feel supporting the arts creates a more vibrant community.

"'My wife is an artist here, and we love seeing people in the arts succeed,' Osborne said. 'We believe that this is a potential economic driver for the city and the region.'

"If you are interested interested in buying the book, it’s on sale for $40 at the Racine Arts Council, 316 6th St. A book release party is set from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Racine Arts Council."

"Safe Ride is available for New Year’s Eve, Don’t drink and drive!"

From RacineUncovered:

afe Ride will be up and running all New Year’s Eve. Be smart… Don’t drink and drive…There is no
reason at all why someone would have to drive under the influence when so many options are available including this. How many thousands of $$$ is an OWI these days? We don’t think anyone wants to end up on Racine Uncovered because they were criminally charged for OWI.. Worse yet, remember you could hurt yourself, hurt others or kill yourself or someone else. A few hours of having a blast could ruin your life. Choose wisely. You can ask the bartender and turn over your keys to them. Safe Ride’s number is 262-884-4248"

"Hunger games? 5 reasons Amur the Tiger hasn’t eaten Timur the Goat"

"Fans of Amur, a Siberian tiger, and Timur, a feisty goat that's not seen as prey by the predator, can finally keep close tabs on the animal buddies 24/7 – thanks to a reality show launched at the Far Eastern Safari Park.

"The unique 'friendship' between Amur and Timur first created a buzz late last month, raising many eyebrows after the lionhearted goat refused to become the predator's lunch, and even dared to steal the feline’s bed. The goat showed no fear and the tiger seems to respect that."

How cool.  If I was the goat, I'd still be afraid that the tiger might eat me on a whim.

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my Eskimos!  How are you?  Wasn't that snowstorm something?  Yes, it was something I can live without, but I have a feeling that winter is just gearing up.  We'll be shoveling snow in April.   The wind just wouldn't give up on Monday, driving snow and ice into everything.  I could feel the minor drafts around our windows.  I guess Señor Zanza will have some insulating work on his agenda, whether he knows it or not.  It's an old house, but there are still plenty of years left in it.  It's just a matter of maintenance.  If you take care of your dwelling, it will take care of you.

Who's going to take care of our ailing Green Bay Packers?  The Arizona Cardinals made fools out of them this Sunday past.  There's only one game left in the regular season to play.  This Sunday, January 3 at 7:30 pm, our vaunted Packers will host the Minnesota Vikings.  Watch for the sparks to fly during this one.

In the Irregular Football League, we've just finished our regular season with the Racine Irregulars taking 1st place, The Mighty Bears winning 2nd, and the Half-Astrophysicists coming in 3rd.  That puts my Screaming Psychics in 4th.  Boo-hoo.  Wait till next year.

Speaking of next year, Happy New Year!  Now don't imbibe too much over the long weekend.  It just makes you hungover and wondering who you insulted.

Are you making any New Years resolutions?  My resolution is to grow younger, though I haven't the faintest idea of how to do it.  I'm tired of creaky bones and achy joints.  I can take any of a number of Madame Zoltar® products to ease my pain, but they don't last.  So then I have to take more and more, like an addict.  I want a permanent fix, like Calgon all of the time.  I'll take the exuberance of youth over the wisdom of old age any day.

I sincerely hope that next year is an improvement over last.  What if everyone fighting wars all over the globe just dropped their weapons and went home?  What if mass murderers talked to a psychiatrist before going on a rampage?  What if wife beaters and kid beaters and dog beaters sought help before beating someone up?  What if, what if.  It will take the Lord's help to accomplish any of those things.  He has to enter the hearts of the abusers, brawlers, and killers.  Unfortunately, that doesn't usually happen until these malcontents are sitting in prison.  Still, I hope and pray for peace.  You can kill people, but you can't kill prayers.

Thank you, my dears, for reading my blog today.  I love visitors and I appreciate the time you take to read my scribblings.  Best wishes for the New Year to you all.

"Calgon all of the time?"  Ask

Please be very careful driving on winter roads.  Patches of ice and other obstacles can appear suddenly.  Stay warm and take care of yourselves.  You're the only you I have.  I love you all.

Love to you too, Betty.

"Man 'walks off cliff and plummets 60 feet to his death on Christmas Day while distracted by his cell phone' "

By Zoe Szathmary For

"Emergency responders were at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego, California, on Friday after a man fell over, local media reported.

"Bill Bender with San Diego Lifeguards at Sunset Cliffs told NBC San Diego: 'Witnesses stated seeing someone distracted by an electronic device and he just fell over the edge.

"'(He) wasn't watching where he was walking, he was looking down at the device in his hands.'
