Wow. Death stalks everyone.
I posted a video with George Michael singing on OrbsCorbs.com. I had no idea he was discovered dead in bed on Christmas morning.
Last year hit many of my favorites in the music industry. Let's see what happens this year; provided that I, too, survive it.

"Music icon Prince dead at 57"

"(CNN)Prince Rogers Nelson, the eclectic virtuoso who penned such gems as 'Kiss,' and 'Let's Go Crazy' and who took on the music industry in his fight for creative freedom, died Thursday at age 57.
"'It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning,' publicist Yvette Noel-Schure said.
"Earlier Thursday, police said they were investigating a death at the Paisley Park studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. They responded to a medical call and found the singer unresponsive in an elevator, Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson said.
"A massive outpouring of grief followed on social media. Some are saying the icon's death 'is what it sounds like when doves cry,' a reference to his monster hit from 1984. Fans rushed to record stores to pick up vinyl and other Prince memorabilia."

"GoFundMe campaign supports slain delivery driver's family"

"Corey Durik, 28, leads a Girl Scout troop that includes one of Norris’ daughters, Samantha. Norris, 37, was shot and killed Friday night in the 3900 block of Green Street while making a food delivery.
"Durik’s sister Jamie spoke with Samantha’s mother on Saturday, and that inspired Corey to create the GoFundMe.
"Corey Durik pledged to give all of the money the campaign raises to Norris’ family to use in whatever way they see fit.
"Corey said that while she didn’t know Norris extremely well, she knew him to be a giving person: He once fixed Jamie Durik’s car for free.
"Jamie, whose daughter is also in Corey’s troop and is close friends with Norris’ daughter, agreed with Corey’s assessment of Norris and emphasized his love for his children.
"And it’s because of Norris’ children that Jamie thinks people should donate as much as they can.
"'Whether it’s to help with the family or the funeral arrangements, at least you donate to the kids,' she said.
"'A mother (has) to raise four kids by herself, at least give her a little extra help.'"

"Racine Police Lieutenant starts 'Band of Blue' to help children of fallen officers"

"Lieutenant Mike Smith with the Racine Police Department, has started a
non-profit organization named Band of Blue. The basic mission is to
provide support to the children of Law Enforcement Officers that have
died in the line of duty. His vision for this organization is that Band
of Blue will provide an experience to the children of our fallen law
enforcement officers
"Lt. Mike Smith has been in Law Enforcement for 16 years and have spent all of those years with the Racine Police Department located in southeast Wisconsin. Lt. Smith stated 'Like all of you have, I have heard of all the tragic stories of those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice and I can’t even imagine the pain of those that have lost someone in their agency.'
"'On September 1st 2015 I walked my two kids to the bus stop on their first day of school. This also was my sons first day of kindergarten. So off the kids go to school and I tell them that I can’t wait to hear about their day when I see them the next morning. That afternoon I go into work and I hear about yet another line of duty death not too far from where I live.'
"He stated that 'I returned home from work that evening and as is the case most nights everyone was in bed. I came across a poem that my son the kindergartner brought home. The teacher had the kids place their hand print on a piece of paper that also had a poem on it. The poem spoke of courage and bravery. I stared at that piece of paper for quite a while as I couldn’t help but think again about the Officer from earlier. What was happening in that house? What were those kids going through? It was at that moment that I decided that I wanted to start Band of Blue. I wanted to bring everyone together to help these children that have lost so much.'
"There are a lot of great organizations that exist to provide support to the affected families. but there is nothing like Band of Blue. Band of Blue is a resource that we can use to impact the lives of the children left behind.
"If an agency suffers a loss and should the Officers from that agency wish to provide an experience for that Officers children, a request would be made to Band of Blue for the funds to make that experience happen. This request could come immediately following the tragic event or maybe 1 year, or even 15 years later.
"Lt. Smith believed in this so much they used their savings and more to pay for the website, marketing and legal work to get the organization off the ground. If you visit the website BAND OF BLUE, this is where experiences that are provided will be shared.

"Jefferson Airplane’s Paul Kantner dies at 74"
"Paul Kantner, one of the giants of the San Francisco music scene, died Thursday. Mr. Kantner, a founding member of the Jefferson Airplane, was 74 and had suffered a heart attack this week.
"His death was confirmed by longtime publicist and friend, Cynthia Bowman, who said he died of multiple organ failure and septic shock.
"Mr. Kantner had a string of health problems in recent years, including a heart attack in March.
"With Jefferson Airplane, Mr. Kantner pioneered what became known as the San Francisco sound in the mid-1960s, with such hits as 'Somebody to Love' and 'White Rabbit.'
"The Airplane was renowned for thrilling vocal gymnastics by singers Marty Balin, Grace Slick and Mr. Kantner, the psychedelic blues-rock sound developed by guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bass player Jack Casady and the LSD-spiked, ’60s-era revolutionary fervor of its lyrics.
"The band was formed in 1965 in a Union Street bar called the Drinking Gourd, when Balin met Mr. Kantner and expressed his interest in creating a 'folk-rock' band. It didn’t take long for the Airplane to attract a sizable local following, enough so that when fledgling promoter Bill Graham opened his legendary Fillmore Auditorium, the Jefferson Airplane served as the first headliner."

"2 Wisconsin men die after falling into manure pit"

"Bloomer -- Two Wisconsin men have died after falling into a manure pit and being overcome by the gases.
"The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 5 p.m. Thursday in the Town of Woodmohr.
"According to the sheriff's office, Jeremy Seibel and Rodney Seibel of Bloomer were trying to retrieve a piece of equipment that fell into the manure pit. They were overcome by the gas and became unresponsive.
"First responders pulled them from the pit, but efforts to revive them were unsuccessful.
"The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health says manure pits can produce methane, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and ammonia.
"'The accumulation of these gases within the confined space of the manure pit can produce an oxygen-deficient, toxic, and/or explosive environment,' the agency says."

"Paul
Revere, the organist and leader of the Raiders rock band, has died. He
was 76. Roger Hart, manager for Paul Revere and the Raiders, said he
died Saturday at his home in Garden Valley, Idaho, from cancer. 'He'd
been quiet about it for some time,' Hart said. Treated at the Mayo
Clinic, Paul stayed on the road as long as he could, then retired
recently back to Idaho, where he and his wife, Sydney, always kept a
home."
