Firefox 3 Now Available

Download it here:

Seems to me to be even faster than 2. What I really like, though, is the clarity of the typeface. I have a visual impairment that always made Internet Explorer 7 appear more readable to me - now they're equal.

I don't like change, though, and they had to change the appearance of the buttons on the toolbar, didn't they?

All in all, a much better product that IE7, faster, much safer, more intuitive and easy to use, and it's free!

I'm interested. It always concerns me to upgrade though. I'm afraid I'm going to ruin what is already working for me. Although I have both loaded on my computer, I use firefox all the time instead of IE7.

I'm nervous, but I want to do it. Getting all my 'toys' to play nice together is a pain. Did you have any glitches when you upgraded? Was it necessary to uninstall your previous version first?

No, I just downloaded it and hit run. I selected the "Typical" install, but it scans your current installation anyways. It took about a minute (compared to 15 minutes for an IE upgrade) to install, then prompted me to auto-upgrade my add-ons, including the Google toolbar. Beautiful. Went VERY smoothly. I was nervous, too, but it went without a hitch. I then put it on computer #2 and that went well, too.

I was using the old Mozilla browswer (the predecssor to Firefox) and haven't used IE in well over half a decade now. Firefox 3 seem very good so far.

rw, when you install it originally, it will copy all of your favorites/bookmarks from IE, so you don't lose anything. The only question is whether or not to make it your default browser. You can stick with IE for awhile while you play with Firefox. I installed Firefox before IE had tabs, and I never looked back. I still think its tab design is better than IE's.

I should also mention that in the past, I've had some minor compatibility problems with Firefox. Microsoft won't let you use it to access Microsoft Update, and sometimes it acted up on the Symantec site. I think it's a good idea to keep IE intalled, just in case.
