The Battle of Evermore

Seeing that we are on the JTI Bus Tour Across Europe,I was wondering to what places that we are going to. I've always wanted to go England and Ireland to see the rolling green hills, the castles, and learn more about the medieval culture. Always been interested in the swords, the dragons, and the magic within. Movies and books like The Lord of the Rings and Braveheart have captured my imagination. I often find myself daydreaming about a swordfight with an orc.

This song has been in my head for the last couple of days. Led Zeppelin's The Battle of Evermore. This song can be found on their classic untitled 4th album. Note the Lord of the Ring references.Enjoy!

That was very cool! Until I saw them together, I didnt catch the LOTR references. Nice post Drew.

Saw them do this song. It was great. Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Robert Plant sat on folding chairs on the edge of the stage and did about a half hour acoustic set.

BTW, they also reference LOTR in the song "Ramble on":

Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.
How years ago in days of old, when magic filled the air.
T'was in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair.
But Gollum, and the evil one crept up and slipped away with her, her, her....yeah.

Ann & Nancy Wilson do a pretty nice cover of this song.

AA,So you saw them in 1977. Cool. Led Zeppelin played The Battle of Evermore,Going to California,Black Country Woman,Bron-y-Aur Stomp and White Summer consistantly during their acoustic set on their 1977 Tour.

Mark,Heart played that when I saw them in Milwaukee. Other cool version-Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.

I was aware of the LOTR reference that AA pointed out, but not this song.

I never saw Led Zeppelin. :( They rock. Always have. Always will.

Also saw them in 1973. That concert is part of their DVD collection. Some night, over a beer, I'll tell you about the stage collapsing and Zeppelin still finishing out the night.
