Reminder: Buy Nothing Day is Today

Okay, I slept in and with the time zone out here, this is probably way too late for most, but today is Buy Nothing Day, a day to strike back against conspicuous consumption and maybe even to remember Christmas is about more than getting loot (or so I am told). Besides, the best bargains are going to come later as desperate retailers cut prices.

So relax and enjoy the day (easy for me to say...partly cloudy and getting into the mid 60s here today!)

Linus and me. Christmas is too commercial. You wouldn't have found me out in the stores today fighting the crowds. Last year I did most of my present shopping online.

I avoided shopping on this day like the plague for years. I can't stand the excessive crowds, the traffic, the parking, and all the insanity that went with it.

Like kk,I think Christmas has gone way too commercial. I think Christmas should be about spending time with friends and family.

"'Utter chaos' as shoppers trample Wal-Mart worker to death"

I went up to Milwaukee and bowled with some friends. (You guys got me going.) All three of us commented on the drunk drivers. When we walked out of the place (Landmark Lanes), a car hurtled around a nearby corner, slammed up against some large concrete planters, and kept on going. I'm sure the right side of his car was creamed, but apparently he didn't blow a tire.

BLACK FRIDAY NEEDS TO BE OUTLAWED.

All it does is bring the animal out in people.

They should have a “Black Week”. Start on a Monday 7 to 3 then add a couple hours every day so by the time Friday hits, it’s 7 till close.

Moreover, make damn sure there is enough products for everyone to purchase, they’re going to sell the wares anyhow.
