The Lottery

How many of you buy lottery tickets? Ever win anything?

I'm thinking I'll go out and buy some for tonight's drawing of the Florida Lotto...something like $46,000,000.... I normally don't buy them, but for some reason, I think I should today.

To date, the largest amount I think I won was in WI and it was something like $10!

You have been on a lucky roll... Someone in Racine just won big. I don't play, so it wasn't me. :(

Over the years, I've won several thousand dollars. Every buck I don't spend is a dollar won.

I just bought 1 power ball and 1 megabucks. I do so every Saturday. The most I ever won was $7.

I would have to say truthfully that I spend about $13 a week on powerball and scratch-offs. Lately hasn't been great but normally I do stay pretty even. If I ever won big, it would put a big smile on us, and our savings account as that's where it would go.

Well, there is an old joke that the lottery is a tax on people who are bad at math :)

I used to play semi-regularly. I would go in spurts, buying one type of ticket or the other. One day, while walking into the old Randall's County Market, I had the thought to buy a Super Cash ticket, a game I'd never played. I won $25, the most I've ever won. Generally, my luck is terrible, so I don't gamble. My mother is the lucky one.

We have blown $2 per week quite regularly for years. Once we won $100, and there have also been assorted $7 and $3 wins.

Hale is right that it's a tax on the math-challenged, but I would argue that buying one ticket dramatically improves your chances compared to none.

We used to play Powerball, but have switched to Mega Millions since it became available here. What would be nice is the option some states have of buying a year's subscription.

Once in a blue moon, I'll buy a lottery ticket. Never won a penny.

I put a 5SEK coin (something like 7 cents) in a slots machine.. it gave me 5 pulls and I won 100SEK (like 13 dollars) on the last pull.. I printed my ticket and walked out with the cash.. I hate gambling.. if I cant win with 10 cents or less it isn't worth it to me.. I hate giving up my money for nothing in return.. did win 25 dollars on a scratch off ticket I got as a present.. that was pretty cool.

I used to go to Arlington Park Race track every once in a while and bet on the horses...eons ago. I remember the excitement of standing at the rail while the pack was charging the finish line. I won $50. on a two dollar bet once. I still remember the horse's name, Goodbody. I think I was so excited, I hugged a stranger! :)

Huck: That's a GREAT way of stating It. It makes a lot of CENTS since the Lottery Is well over 20 year old in Wisconsin.

See, I have a problem with casinos. There are three types of games there.

1. Games I never learned how to play...don't know the rules.

2. Games I know how to play and don't like the odds.

3. Games I know how to play, how to win, but he casinos frown on my techniques.

I have yet to find a game that does not fall into one of those three categories.
